I try to feed my family nothing but organic foods, which are next to impossible to find here, but I digress.  When I make the trip to Memphis, I look for organic dog food as well, but all I find seems to be pure crap.  Does anyone know of any truly organic kibble that's worth a try??   Meat's got to be the 1st ingredient.  Pixie doesn't seem to have any skin allergies, so if its got any sort of "meal" in it, its probably acceptable, though I'd prefer it didn't.

Thanks!!

Innova and it's grain-free kibble EVO are both great foods...they use only human grade ingredients.  My dogs were all on it for over a year, but they started picking at it, so I switched them to Canidae, which doesn't rate quite as high on the food quality scale, but it's still a great food and my dogs really love it.

For more info, you can look at these sites:

No dog kibble can be completely 100% organic, because AAFCO regelations requires that vitamin and mineral supplements must be added.
A manufacturer can claim their food is "Organic" if the ingredients are 95% organic, not including added salt and water. A brand of food that claims "Made with Organic ingredients" must be at least 70% organic, not including added salt or water.
One thing you should consider is that Organic meat is very expensive, so an "Organic" dog food is most likely not going to have a lot of meat, or the meat it does have will not be organic. Most 'Organic' dog foods are within the minimal 70% requirement for organic ingredients and do not use organic meat.
Innova/EVO and Canidae are very good dog foods, but they do not use organic ingredients.

Dogfoodproject.com is a great site, and also has a list of organic dog foods that you can look at here....

We just tried some Newman's own canned (not kibble) and my girls loved it. (we're still not there with the completely commercial free diet- but working on it)

Thanks so much! I didn't expect to find 100% organic; that's hard enough to do with our own food Since 95% is what it takes to certify it as USDA organic, I actually didn't think I'd get that lucky with dog food. The most I've seen was 70%, which will do. Its better than nothing!! It hadn't crossed my mind about the vitamins and such, though.
Thanks again! I'm going to go check this stuff out right now!
