I feed Parker California Naturals, twice a day. (Breeder instructed me to feed him 1/2 cup morning, 1/2 cup night).  Normally he finishes it off very quickly. This a.m. he went out to the pond and filled up on water, so he didn't eat it all. Not a big deal. Anyways, he normally poops at least twice after eating just that 1/2 cup. And I'm not talking a tootsie roll sized poop. He has big turds! Is that normal? I mean, they aren't diarrhea or anything like that, but I had read that with quality dog food they don't poop as much.  I can't imagine how much he'd poop with Ol' Roy!

Every dog, just like humans will react differently to foods. High quality food may cause MOST dogs not to poop as much, but not necessarily all. I'd say so long as its not diarrhea or nothing seems wrong with Parker, it's probably nothing, just an overactive digestive system? Joleigh will sometimes poop 2+ times if she's outside for awhile. If you are concerned about it go to the vet, or even call them and ask them if they think somethings wrong.

I don't remember how big Parker is, but excessive poop could be a sign of overfeeding. What size is he?

well... my babies eat 1/2 cup total per day of canidae and a few baby carrots (as 2 each as snacks/treats).... they were pooping 4-5x a day and BG POOPs too... they are 12lbs... but now they are eating the same and only poop maybe 2-3x and normal size... is parker a puppy? how old? maybe he will be able to hold it more and go less and maybe he will digest differently as he matures.

Come to think of it Jeter pooped more too as a puppy. He goes way less now, like 2 x day as opposed to 4-5 not even just a few moths ago.

Yep, could be over feeding or just puppy poop.  Speaking of poop:

Mayfly poops twice a day; Mitzy twice a day; Loco twice; Skipper once or twice; Gavin once or twice; Morgandy - wild card - sometimes 3-5 times a day.  Couple of reasons for that - she's the youngest at 10 months, I'm feeding her a lot to get some weight on her and she had a bad case of worms when we pulled her from the shelter.

Parker is about 5 pounds. He is almost 3 months old. (July 3rd!) If I was overfeeding him, wouldn't he be fat? He usually gobbles up everything I give him. Do you think a total of a cup a day is too much for the little guy? He occassionally gets a treat, but not very often. I'd say every four or five days if he has been really good and no potty accidents I give him a treat.
