Last weekend, our neighbor's 100lb lab and Rocky got into it. We have no idea as to who started it. Rocky has a tendency to snip at big dogs and the lab has a history of playing rough and being a bit aggressive. Anyway, Rocky's now recovering from some nasty bite wounds. The vet said that his injuries are minor for a big dog on little dog fight/attack but it has scared me just the same. We all are watching the dogs very closely so that they are never near each other so that this incident is repeated. Rocky seems to be emotionally unphased. I, on the other hand, am terrified that another dog will go after him and hurt him again...or worse. I have heard of people carrying citronella spray to break up a dog fight. Does anyone know anything about this or have any other advice? Hopefully, this is something that will never need to be used but it makes me feel better to be prepared...just in case.

I had only heard of it used in an anti-bark collar.  Sounds like it's more humane and possibly safer than pepper spray.

I have never heard of that. However, I will check into it. By the way, I am glad your baby is fine. I would be very nervous as well.

I'd rather have mace or pepper spray if I was going to take Yogi to a Dog Park that doesn't segregate by size, or have a neighbor with a dominant/aggressive dog...just feel safer. Won't permanently damage the aggressor, and might save your pet's life. AND teach the aggressor to back off when "warned"  by you.

Ed Frawley (tough guy trainer) has some good advice regarding dog fights, aggressive dogs...
