Currently all three of my dogs are on the green bag of Innova Adult small bites. When I went to the store to get another bag I saw next to the Regular Innova something called Innova Evo. I asked the girls at the store what the difference was, but they were clueless. So I thought maybe someone would know on here? Or maybe I read the bag wrong and EVO is something completely different from Innova.....

It's great to be back!! All three pups are doing wonderful! I think they are so much happier now that we can go to the park again and go for walks! And I have avoided walking in front of cabs! LOL!

Be careful though. EVO has around 40% protein, and the regular Innova has around 24%. This is important, because unless you work your dogs a lot, they will get fat. Most of the time 40% is just too much for a little doggie.

Yes, EVO is just the grainless variety.
Kristin, I've heard that, for some dogs, a diet that is too high in protein can be to "rich" for some dogs, and can cause diarrhea. But I'd try the EVO anyway, because I've only heard of a few cases were a food was too 'rich'.
The regular Innova seems to be around 24% protein.

Thank you for that information! I will defiantly be watching it. Blue (My Iggy) has a fast metabolism, but then my other two Liberty & Justice have a weight issue. So Blue gets the amount it says on the bag for his weight of the wet and dry of Evo chicken. Liberty & Justice get a much smaller portion of the EVO Reduced fat with raw veggies. I have just started slowly switching them over from Innova so they all are still getting some of the Innova as well. I hope I'm doing this right.

Plus we go for a walk almost every early morning for 2 miles at the dog park. And then smaller walks through out the day. Blue is pretty active so we are constantly playing games in the backyard.

I think they get fat when they're fed too much.  I'm guessing that most people who feed EVO feed too much and then blame the high protein and fat. (It's usually the higher fat that causes diarrhea)   Lucky lost a lot of weight on EVO over the winter (he's at 19 pounds now, down from almost 29).    In my experience, the lower protein/higher carb foods (Innova) cause more weight gain than the higher protein/lower carb foods (EVO)  I do recommend adding water to the kibble though (if you don't free feed),  since the ash content is much higher.  It will help digestion and aid the kidneys in removing waste.

I've fed my dogs both the regular Innova and EVO...I think a lot of times, people just don't realize that they don't need as much of the EVO as other kibbles. My girls have never had a weight problem, and my older male several lbs while on EVO. I added water to the EVO too. I think it's a great food, but my girls decided they wanted a change, so now they get Canidae.

Liberty & Justice's weight problem right now is from me being laid up in bed for 4mths and they weren't getting their exercise and they were going to puppy camp where I found out later that the employees were feeding them fast food!! (But that's another story. )

Thank you all for the advice! I do appreciate it!

I'm going to have to try the water thing. I am currently looking for a new food myself, so I'm just reading about stuff online. My personal experience is that you have to remember to feed less, the better the food (fewer fillers). I'm thinking of going to canidae myself, but I have samples of 6 different foods right now to try.

I know EVO has an excellent track record, as they were the first truely grain free food, and have been around for 10 years. I was just cautioning, because it's a different content mix than most other foods, and people overlook that. I think that's why people end up over feeding.

I see it as eating an oreo every day, or eating a double fudge chocolate chunk brownie. You are still only eating one of each, but I think most of us agree, it's just not the same.

I've just recently switched Rocky to EVO and he loves it. We haven't noticed any problems like diarhea or weight gain. I have read (I don't remember where so the source may not be too reliable) that the grain free foods are higher in protein and calorie count but that doesn't cause weight gain because of the lack of grains...lower carbs.  Like I said, I'm can't promise that this is true but it may be something to look into if you are concerned about doggie weight gain.
