well just got back from the butcher! my regular thursday thing! look'd for my SOCKET BONES! and they were ALL gone!! so what to do? I think I found a even better solution! FROZEN TURKEY TAILS! Foster farms a dozen for 3-4$ I think I like them better! they are at least smaller and I would really rather give them fresh everyday no I can! and they still got enought bones to chew on from the last couple of weeks! what ya think? they sure where happy! |

| Turkey tails are high in fat, so just watch that if you have a chubby pup. |

I also feed our rat terrier nature's variety raw and was told not to mix kibble and raw together in the same meal. Due to them digesting at different speeds, and can cause bactieria to grow in the dogs stomach. We use the medallions and give two medallions per meal (twice a day). Yes our little Sophie still seems to be hungry but she would eat all the time if we would let her. |

I have been thinking about this bacteria issue. One of the things about dogs is they have a very short digestive tract. Also they have very high acid level in the stomach and intestines. While I could see that an unhealthy dog who is unused to raw might have a problem, I cannot really see how, on a healthy dog accustomed to raw, the food (raw or a VERY high quality no grain kibble) would be in their systems for so long that a bacterial issue had time to escalate. I'm not planning to test this, but as I said, I have fed a combo in the past before I heard this advice to no ill effect. I was just mulling it over for the sake of argument and I am still no convinced. Fortunately, the only time I feed kibble is when I have a foster or transitioning a new dog to raw, so it's not a big issue here. |

I found the turkey tail in the turkey case frozed @12 in a pak, made by Foster farms! good brand! I had never seen them either! I like'd that they were smaller than the beef hip-sockets I was getting! and I only have one CHUBBO! and they others keep him going to burn it off! I guess its a trade -off to get some fresh meat in them!Since I only give them dry+water its the only fresh they get as a treat every-other-day. |
