Terry came up from Texas a couple of weeks ago.  Was told that he had a little bit of coughing going on down there but muchly improved.  He did not cough here for at least a week to 1 1/2 weeks, then one night out of the blue he started up.  He has good days and he has bad days.  I have tried the Benylin (helps a bit).  He is active, hungry and generally go go go .  I have spoke to the vet and she thought that since he was not running a fever and was generally well to try the Benylin.  If he hasn't stopped by the end of this week (maybe sooner) off to the vet the little guy is going.

I am wondering if this maybe allergies (he is not scratching or anything else).  Other than the cough he is absolutely fine.  Yes he was given the bordetella and all shots, has been fixed, also was HW neg.  I think if it was stress he would be okay by now, so I am ruling that one out.

Any help or insight would be helpful

It could be allergies but it could also be kennel cough. If he was already exposed before his vaccine then it would have no effect. Plus there are various strains that the vaccine does not cover. I don't know what Benylin is. We have Benedryl here in the states that is for allergies and Tussin which is cough suppressant, both of which have been approved by my vet for my dogs. If it is a cold/kennel cough it is likely self limiting and has a 10 day cycle or so.

Benylin is a cough suppressant and was recommended by the vet. We also thought it could be a strain of kennel cough. My concern is that it has gone on for more than 10 days. No other dog in the house has come down with anything other than Pinky, she started up about 3 days ago. She has been to the vet and she does not believe that it is kennel cough.

I think that is why I am looking for info about allergies.

My dog had kennel cough for over a month. We tried cough suppressants and antibiotics with no help. I would take him to a vet before it gets worse, because it could progress to pnuemonia.
My dog had to finally go on breathing tx and a heavy duty antibiotics that finally took care of it.
