Cyrus woke up this morning with excessive goop in his right eye. He has always had morning goop, so it didn't concern me, I just wiped it out. But when I came home this afternoon, it was back, and the white part of his eye is really red. I don't know if it's an allergy, or what. I know my allergies have been awful lately, but it worries me that it's so red, and the goop keeps coming back.
Is this an immediate cause for concern, or should I wait a few days and see if it goes away?

conjunctivitous maybe? Some one else here has a dog that has conjunctivitous and has the same goop around the eye.

It might be allergies but since it's only in one eye, I'd think it's conjuctivitous. He might need eye drops or other meds to help clear it up...alice4512's ratties both have it right now.

This site has really good info on the problem (they do sell products though so grain of salt - still talk to your vet ).

Wow, I hope it's not that! Scary!! It seems the goop has subsided, for now at least. I think it is just when he's been sleeping, but his eye is still red. But he's playing normally and his eye isn't puffy. He's not even blinking a lot. If it is conjuncivitis, I assume it will be worse tomorrow and I'll have a better idea.
Thanks for all your help!
