Nora at 10 weeks will not let me leave her sight--if I put her in the crate and go to another room she screams not wimpers--I live in an apartment and do not want to be thrown out.

She likes the crate well enough as she will stay in it when I am in the room or sleeping in the room

Is she to young for me to worry about it?  Is it ok if I give into it for I while til I have her potty trainging better?  I think she is doing ok--is 60 to 75 percent on paper or outside good?  She does not mind going out side.

I am obsessed with her, maybe she is picking up on that

thanks for any thoughts on this

Melody

You should probably keep her crated until she is completely potty trained. Also, you don't want a 10 week old puppy running around unsupervised and getting into things she shouldn't. Have you tried putting something in the crate that will distract her? Try filling up a Kong or another hollow toy with treats like cheese and meat. But whatever you do, DO NOT give into her!! It's best and easiest to fix this while they are puppies. And don't take her out while she is fussing, because this tells her that what she is doing is good and she will continue to cry. Wait for her to quiet down, then take her out while she's calm, so it incourages her to relax.

I live in an apartment too, and was having this problem when i first got joleigh. at first i was just giving in, letting her out, till i came home one day and found a terrible TERRIBLE mess that required lots of time and money to clean up (I had to replace 4 sets of blinds) anyways, after that, i had no problem not giving in to her screaming to get out of the crate, she eventually got over it after about a week, and i just talked to my neighbors and told them i was crate training her and that she may scream like shes getting murdered for awhile (i made sure to note to them that i would not crate her more than necessary and that I also would never do it during undecent hours) They said it was fine, also i asked that they tell me if they hear her (which also helps, you don't know if the pup is whining unless they tell you) i have had no complaints, and as long as joleigh gets her kong filled up b4 i leave, shes good. i also ONLY fill up the kong when she gets in the crate, so now she knows when she sees me with the kong and goes in the crate herself. she brings it out later and chews on it, im sure she still tastes the peanut butter.

hope this was a help!

Oh our Ms Daisy was a squeeler too! We had a cardboard box we used like a playpen....when we just had to get something done and couldn't have our eye on her....and we crate trained her as well. She would cry and carry on like she was being killed! Even for me to curl my hair....I'd put her in my deep bath tub....now mind you I was sitting on the edge of the tub curling my hair....so I was RIGHT THERE.....she would cry and holler like cazy. It's a new puppy thing...... Highly recommend the crate training....will work.....just have to be diligent....and stay strong.....these little tykes like to wear you down! Good luck....hang in there....it will get easier!
