so now that my baboes are outside running they are also eating EVERYTHING!!! chewing sticks, pine cones, grass, dandelions, dirt, tree bark and lick sap on a old stump... now i know sticks can be dangerous so i let them lick and chew until they actually start to knaw off pieces... but what about grass, DIRT, pine cones, etc... is this just what dogs do?

the puggle i am house sitting for does the same thing with them... she actually got into dirt when i was looking and drank alot of water... then ran an out it came (throw up)... she was fine and started to run again... i am sure taht was a coombo of too much water, dirt and running....

its hard with 2 (3) dogs to keep up on a 1/2 acre expecially with there speed!!! 1 will listen to drop it but the other hasnt learned it yet.

any insight as to teh do's and don't of outside activity / eating would be great!

Unfortunately puppies like very small children use their mouths to explore their envirornment. They will taste almost anything, even things that appear to be especially yucky to people. Dogs as a whole also will eat lots of things that are not good for them, but taste good to them. Water in mud puddles is fequently drank, even when clean water is avalible to them. All the behavior you discribe is really very normal.

ANYTHING WORTH DOING IS WORTH OVERDOING Mom of eight, only three left at home! Pack leader to ten ratties: Maggie, Mysty, Berry, Simon, Ceecee and five puppies, Star,Sari, Bluebelle, Double stuf, and Snortie. As well as Ginger the Border Collie and a herd of turkeys!

You don't have Mircle Grow on anything out there, do you? Carol's Tinkerbelle got very sick from eating soil with that in it. Cocoa mulch is another big no-no for landscaping if you have dogs.

Mayfly tears up sticks and pinecones but doesn't eat them....
