Just some good info-research on Dog Food ingreds and fallacies.

I was under the mistaken impression Beet Pulp was not good...nor white rice vs brown...makes sense that unhulled rice/bran could upset a digestive tract, but I never gave it a thought! I've been feeding Mr Picky "Blue Organic Chic and BROWN Rice"

Hmmmm?

We learn as we go, right? I'm constantly learning new things about dog nutrition from this site, the Dog Food Project and other places. I think the best thing any of us can do for our dogs is educate ourselves on ingredients used in our dog's foods.

This is the main sites I use to look up dog food info. Lots of good info. I also use dogfoodanalysis.com to see what ingredients are in what dog food.
Btw, how is your rattie doing on blue organics? I've been thinking of trying a small bag of 'blue wilderness' (also made by 'blue buffalo') on Sam to see what it does, but I'm a little iffy about they're manufacturer. They're canned food and dog treats were also part of the dog food recall. I sent them an email asking were they make their food, and all they wrote back was 'I don't know what manufacturing plant we use'.

It seems like a lot of dog food companies are pretty secretive about where their food is made if they don't make it themselves.  This site has some info on who makes what.

Thanks Ski for that site....!

I got Yogi the small bag of Blue (Buffalo) organic...he seems to like it..it is Chick and Brown Rice.

But...all I eat is Brown rice so he was getting that as an addition to his other food anyway.

He has tried EVO, Taste of the Wild, and Nat Balance Duck/Salmon & Potato..and been picky with all.

I just ended up eating it. (just kidding)!

He LIKES the Blue Organic so guess I'll stick with it awhile..really expensive tho.

It does have Salmon Oil/Omegas in it so that is good.

He has been sneezing lately...4 days now...wonder if it's the new food ....or the BALES of pine straw I just spread in the side yard (his)??????????

Yogi's Mom - I wouldn't worry about feeding him brown rice.  It might be harder to digest for dogs with a sensitive tummy but if he has done fine with it in the past then he doesn't have an issue with it (mine have all eaten it with no problem).

And as for the sneezing this isn't usually a sign of a food allergy, it's a sign of inhalent allergy (I'm the Allergy Queen here! LOL).  It could easily be the pine straw or just the most recent pollen that's come out.  All 3 of my wee ones (Mitzy, Mayfly & Skipper) are having allergy issues from the pollen this week.

As always, JMO!
