So the sun has been out all week and Jack has taken to lying in the sun all the time.  His nose is back to how it was before steroids now   Scaley, more loss of pigment, swollen and stuffy.  Starting to scab on the top too.  I try sunblock but it gets licked off and I can't make to poor sun-worshiper stay in!  So this is why I DON"T think it is just CDA.  It gets worse with sun exposure, just like Disoid Lupus.....CDA can actually be helped by sun exposure lots of the time .  I am going nuts!  I don't agree with the vets diagnosis but I don't have another 400 for a biopsy again of the really affected stuff to really prove it.  He had a very small area that was affected when they biopsied and another "immune mediated"  yahoo group told me that the pred could have affected the biopsy even though he was off ti for a month.   His ears are getting worse too. Just the trials of Jack..............

Gee Sarah, you have a lot of issues with these guys. I don't know what to tell you, but you research and understand more about it than I. You are constantly taking the time to research health issues for all of us. There must be something we can do to help you out. We do this for strangers all the time. I am sending you a check Monday.

Bill, You don't have to do that!! I just need to vent cause I knwo there is something wrong, in my gut I know it. I need to get a second opinion. He very well may have CDA but there is more to it, something that wasn't there when they looked.

Sarah, I just ordered sunscreen for Katie -- UVet spf 40 by vetone. Of course, he would lick it right off the nose, but maybe it would help in general.

Sarah,

I just talked to my brother-in-law who is a vet.  He said SUNSCREEN, SUNSCREEN, SUNSCREEN.  He wants me to use it on KS's ears whether she is outside or not.  He said you can use regular sunscreen and to get 40 or 50 spf.  Just thought I'd pass this on, since Jack's condition is worse with sun -  he thinks UV rays are contributing to KS's problem too.
