And we are all stumped.  Will need to call the Vet School for some help on this one.  It was not vasculitis and there were no autoimmune changes.  Stacey will bring me the copy of the report and call the Vet School doctor next week for consultation.  But to sum up the report, it was Chondromatous Hyperplasia.  Chondromatous being cartlidge and hyperplasia being the proliferation of cells which can be caused by numerous things (i.e. inflammation).  Why she has this and what to do remains to be figured out.  ~sigh~  Of course, it can't just be a simple answer, now can it. So, Stacey and/or Dan will work on trying to get some answers next week.

Sorry you didn't get a definitive answer, Jan. Hopefully, someone at the Vet School will be able to shed some light on what's going on AND find a good treatment!

When you own a Rattie....you KNOW you are in your right mind

THE MEANING OF RESCUE

Now that I'm home, bathed, settled and fed,
All nicely tucked in my warm new bed.
I'd like to open my baggage
Lest I forget,
There is so much to carry -
So much to regret.
Hmm... Yes there it is, right on the top
Let's unpack Loneliness, Heartache and Loss,
And there by my leash hides Fear and Shame.
As I look on these things I tried so hard to leave -
I still have to unpack my baggage called Pain.
I loved them, the others, the ones who left me,
But I wasn't good enough - for they didn't want me.
Will you add to my baggage?
Will you help me unpack?
Or will you just look at my things -
And take me right back?
Do you have the time to help me unpack?
To put away my baggage,
To never repack?
I pray that you do - I'm so tired you see,
But I do come with baggage -
Will you still want me?

How are Miss Katie Scarlett's ears doing today?

They don't seem to bother her at all, unless I touch them. The ear tip bandage tape is in place and will stay there until I take her in on Monday to remove. (We are doing it at the vet's office in case we start getting bleeding again.) She is fairly happy -- her little ears are flopping and she can't go in the lake, but other than that, she is fine. Thanks.

Have they taken skin scrapings of the ear? How about parasitic testing? Just thoughts... it almost sounds like cell destruction of some kind and from what you say it is localized.

Yes, Bill, skin scrapings are the first thing they did.  Hopefully the vet school will have some ideas next week.

Well Dang! I was hoping that the biopsy would be more conclusive instead of elusive. Katie's just special that's all!
