With your help, I switched Ernie to Eagle Brand Holistic senior food. It's been a great transition and I didn't think he could eat food faster but he does with his new change. I mix a little sweet potatoe once in awhile and it seems to slow his eating a bit.

My question- His poo is much softer and greenish versus the brown from his old food. Sorry, Not that I think you're an expert on poo   He's had anal gland problems in the past, I though a little  firmer was better.

I was thinking I would see better coat changes with this food. His coat is dry. I'm going to start with the fish oils.

Has it been soft and green the whole time he's been eating it?  The soft poop can be from over feeding, but the green?

He gets 1/2 a cup twice a day.
First noticed when walking and Had to baggie it. Foul smelling, more then ever ever in my experience with him.
I think his poo is way to soft.
As far as color, I will keep track, maybe it appeared more green after I gave him some green beans. But generally I think it has an appearance of green versus before food change.
I always appreciate your advise, sorry not the greatest subject.
His coat is sooo dry versus old also.

Hmmmm.  That's 368 calories.  Technically that's enough for a 22 pound dog.  How long has he been eating it?  I guess it's possible that it's just not for him.  I forget how old he is.  Maybe he needs more fat in his diet, have you tried another EP product?  I recently tried their new food for small and mini breed adults.  It's main ingredient is fish so it's a nice switch for my two guys.  I wish I knew what to tell you.

Ernie's 9 y.o.     Switched his food to Eagle in February
He has gained weight with this food, although winter and less walking.
Haven't looked at the other Eagle Pack varieties because he's a senior. Should I give the small/mini a try before switching?

I really don't know.  If you did you'd have to cut way back,  it has 424 cals per cup vs 368 in the Senior..  How much does Ernie weigh?  I think I'd try cutting back to 3/4 cup of Senior food and add omega 3 fish oil and see if that helps.

MMMMM! I'm stumped too. I will do some observing first. Cut down on amount and see from there. Thanks, as usual you're a great help.

Might be detox too if you went from a crap food to a good one - how long has it been like this?

Well I would like to say I've been observant from the very beginning but that's not the case, only for a few weeks. We have had the nicer weather and we're out walking. I can observe him and his business, so to speak.
I am going to have to be very observant. Keep track and talk to the vet at his next appointment. He's due for a stool sample.
