This is an FYI in case anyone was thinking of trying this stuff.  It may be only certain dogs who have a reaction but apparently one of the ingredients in this stuff is real bad - Amitraz (mitaban).  Here's the link:

Yuck. Isn't mitaban what they use in mange dips?

Yes and supposed to be toxic if a person touches it...it's vile stuff...which is why a lot of people who have dogs with mange try other ways of getting rid of it (ivermectin or the borox/peroxide stuff).

I was just going to post a question here asking if anyone is using Promeris on their rat terriers. I just went to the vet's office to talk about and buy flea and tick medication for Henry. We had been using Frontline with no problems for several years until last year, when it suddenly lost it's effectiveness on Heidi and Cocoa. Henry was on Frontline when I got him, and the rescue group gave me a couple of vials for him, so I kept him on it, and it worked fine on him last summer, but I switched the other two to Advantage, which doesn't work on ticks. Henry is a tick magnet, so I really didn't want to switch him to Advantage. Anyway, the vet's office sold me a dose of Promeris. I asked her what types of side effects had been reported, and she said some dogs are lethargic for a day or two after the application. That didn't sound too good to me, so I came home and got right on the Internet and found all kinds of stories about serious side effects, especially if Promeris is ingested. It is so hard to discern fact from fiction on the Internet, but it was enough to scare me away. Then I looked up the ingredients. Yikes. Henry sleeps with us under the covers! I took the dose back and returned it; I think I'll wait until Promeris has been out for a while. The great ending to this story is that my vet's office matched an online price plus gave me 1 free vial for purchasing a 6-month supply of Frontline. I was so happy.

I wouldn't ever use this stuff,  or anything made by Fort Dodge.  Their ProHeart 6,  an injectable heartworm preventitive,  killed many dogs before they pulled it off the market a few years ago.

Wow, I didn't know about that one. That's good to know. I'm so glad that I followed my gut instinct and didn't put that dose on Henry.

I agree with the rest. I would stay away from this product. I have read too many negatives about it's safety.
