Can anyone help me. I brought my third ,yes I said third, Rat into our home about 6 weeks ago
and he is driving me crazy. He pees more than any dog I have ever owned. My other Rats are trained good, maybe an accident once in a while from the 1 yr. old, however I can bring Oakley out, the puppy, and he will pee and I will bring him in the house and no more than 15 min. later he is peeing in the house. I can never have him in the kennel without him peeing no matter what the lenght of time, even if I have just let him out. He is on his third round of medicine for a slight infection but nothing seems to help? Am I doing something wrong?  He is about 14 wks. now. I don't think that I am doing anything different with this one than I did the others but I can't seem to get him to stop. I did just have him treated on Friday for roundworm but the vet didn't feel it would have any bearing. Thanks

Is his kennel blocked off, so he only has enough room to turn around and lie down? Supposedly they won't pee where they have to sleep. I've heard other members recommend when the puppy is out of the crate that you tie him to you with a long cord, so you can always keep an eye on him, when he makes a move to potty you distract him with a firm no, then take him outside. When he does pee outside, praise him like a maniac.
There are some good housetraining tips on the Training forum.

Medicine for what kind of infection? Urinary tract? On Easter sunday my little guy went from perfectly fine to peeing every 15-20 minutes in a matter of hours. He would drink until the water dish was empty and want outside to pee almost right away. He peed in the house several times and peed on me when I picked him up. I mixed a half teaspoon of apple cider vinegar with some canned food and he was fine in a couple of hours. I still mix a little acv in his food three times a week.

Urinary tract infections can make them pee constantly, what kind of infection is the vet treating him for?
With my dogs it seems like the females housetrained quicker than the males, but maybe that is just me. How old is your puppy? It seemed like mine peed constantly when they were younger. some things do take more time than others too.
The apple cider vinegar is a good idea too. I used it for urinary infections for me and my daughter too. It works well for humans as well as dogs. I mixed it with water and we drank it.

Welcome! You said third round of medicine for an infection - UTI? I would try the apple cidar vinager and if that doesn't help maybe a second opinion (assuming that he is being treated for a UTI).

Also, when Mayfly was taking prednisone for an allergic reaction she would drink lots of water and pee more...not every 15-20 minutes but every couple of hours. She never had an accident, just wanted out more.
