| Well, I def am no expert on this. But I have had chocolate dealings with my dogs too. When Lacey was 9wks old she ate some easter candy (choc) and she got very sick...Vomiting and acting like she was drunk. This came on several hours after eating the choc. We took her to the vet and they just observed her and she got better. Jack has also eaten choc. and had no side effects from it. I know it can be dangerous, but if it were me I would just watch her and see if she starts acting sick. JMO. You may get other opinions from others about this. Mind you I am no vet, but is there an emergency line where you can call for advise. Maybe induce vomiting? The vet did that with Lacey when she ate something else and we didnt know what it was but she was acting weird. |

There are a couple of posts pinned on chocolate at the top of this forum...one is "Oscar's chocolate odessy" and the other is from Katie's Mom on chocolate. Hopefully she'll just be hyper but remember that raisins are toxic to dogs, too, so that's worrisome. I'd definitely call the vet this morning. |

| Chocolate usually just makes them sick (but can be lethal in some cases). Raisins/grapes are said to be poisonous (just found this out recently - we fed grapes to our dogs since I was a kid so this was a shock). I hope she comes through it with minimal issues. Keep us posted for sure. |

Oh no! Just now seeing this post---hope everything is fine this morning. My dobie has gotten into candy bags and ingested chocolate candies before, and it made her a little hyper, but that's all. I believe that "baker's chocolate" is the most harmful to dogs, although no type of chocolate is good for them. Yep, raisins and grapes are not good for them, either. If she only ate a few, though, I'm sure they will go through her system rather quickly with no bad side effects. |

i would worry about the raisins more than the chocolate also! you can call the animal poison national hotline but it costs $60. I had to call when Fred at a "Plink" garbage disposal cleaner ball. It was worth it though. Poor guy he was a mess but they helped a lot.
As the premier animal poison control center in North America, the APCC is your best resource for any animal poison-related emergency, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. If you think that your pet may have ingested a potentially poisonous substance, make the call that can make all the difference: (888) 426-4435. A $60 consultation fee may be applied to your credit card. |

| glad to hear she's fine! My family dog, who is a golden retriever mix we got from the shelter, has gotten into BOXES of chocolate before, I was so worried, but it didn't seem to bother him in the slightest. I've heard it effects some breeds more than others, like chihuahuas, but I don't know if that's true or not... may just be size. |

| alright so evidentally they didn't effect her at all besides the sugar content, thanks to all who replied!! i didnt ask about the raisins but i told the vet what she ate, so im assuming that she knows that raisins arent good for her either. |
