Has anyone used it??  Is it any good?  We usually use Frontline Plus, which didn't work AT ALL last year,  so I need to find something else...

No, but I've thought about it. I actually just bought somthing called Sentry Natural Defense...haven't had a chance to put it on the girls yet (been a crazy week) but I really like the idea of using less chemicals than what is in the leading brands, which I never really noticed actually working anyways. It will be interesting to see if this works.

I just switched from K-9 Advantix to Biospot.  I still wanted something with protection against mosquitos and this has it.  I compared the ingredients and they're almost excatly the same.  Only the Biospot it half the cost.  I'll let you know how it works.  :-)

No, but I've been thinking about it, although I have HEARD that it can cause dogs to have seizers. Apparently, some dogs absorb it in their skin and the Permerthrin in it (a pesticide that kills insects by paralyzing their nervous system) gets into the dog's system and does the same thing to their nerves. I'm not so sure if it's as bad as people make it sound, though. I'm sure if it was, most stores wouldn't bother selling it because not so many people would buy it. Just something I thought I'd mention as an extra precaution.
It does kill more insects than frontline and other leading brands, aparently.

Do you know if this is all natural or organic ingredients by any chance.  The vet put a dose of Frontline on the pup a couple of weeks ago but I'd much rather stay away from chemicals.

Thanks girls. I am going to give it a try as well. At least I won't be throwing as much money down the drain if this doesn't work either. hehe

Yes, I have used it for many years in the past with all my dachshunds.  They tolerated it well and it did a good job with the flea population down on the coast of Galveston, which is pretty bad.  But I am NOT able to use it with Button.  She itched and scratched for 3-4 days the first 2-3 times I used it on her, so I think she is very sensitive to the insecticide in that one.  I have read in numeraous articles that rat terriers are sinsitive to insecticides, so we don't even put things like Spectracide or Durspan on our yard anymore.

Since Button couldn't handle BioSpot well, we switched to Frontline Plus and she has had no negative reactions to it.  I may try the BioSpot out on Zipper, though, to see if she is tolerant of it.  We don't really have fleas bad in our neighborhood and the girls are pretty much "home bodies".  By that, I mean that other than walks around the block, they are not exposed to outside area that often.  So probably any of the products would be effective for my girls and in this immediate area.

If you use this please make sure you keep an eye on them and wash off as much as possible if there is a reaction.  You can google biospot for what to look for.  This is a poison and can cause bad reactions.

I had heard about the seizures - but they said it was due to the Permethrin.  However,  this is the MAIN ingredient in most of the leading flea medicine brands, including K-9 Advantix.  And the percentages of it are VERY close.  I imagine every animal reacts differently...humans all have different allergies.  I chose the BioSpot after comparing the ingredients to the K-9 Advantix.  Since there were almost the same, I figured I would try it.  I also wanted something to protect against mosquitos and this does it.  Good Luck!

I got a topical flea application from my vet a couple of years ago called Revolution, and my doberman didnt do well with it al ALL--it made her very lethargic, so I gave her an intense bath, and discontinued using it. I used Bio-Spot on her and on Lucy last summer with no bad side-effects. We dont really have much of a flea problem here at all, so one application during mid-summer is usually all I need to do. I always watch for reactions, though, because all dogs can react differently to any chemical.

My holistic vet said to not use K9 Advantix on dogs with seizures (Sasha) so use Frontline on her - but she prefers the K9 Advantix... I've tried any and ALL holistic ways in trying to control fleas and haven't had much luck.  I had fleas BAD last year.  I never had them for 4 years, and never used any type of preventative and all of a sudden, boom - I got bombarded by them.  Nasty little critters they are!

here's a link to Natural Defense:
www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp

as far as I can tell, it doesn't have any chemicals in it (at least minimal amounts, anyways),  just natural oils: peppermint, cinnamon, lemongrass, clove, and thyme.   I bought one box to see if it works and then I'll decide whether or not to buy more.
