We didn't sleep much last night at all. Lucy didn't sleep at all. She had two episodes of puking followed by diarrhea. This morning, there was blood next to her pile. I have no clue what is going on with her. I am going to insist that she comes with Tiger and I to the vet today. This is not normal. We fell asleep at 12, then up at 2 because she was shaking and just staring at the wall so I tried to comfort her, 3:30 she started to puke got her off the bed, got back to bed after cleaning at 4, then back up at 7:30 for more puking and blood in stools. I really hope the blood is just from a raw butt or something not serious. I have never seen that with her before.

Poor Lucy! I agree though that is sounds like the she must be seen again by the vet and make sure it's nothing serious. I hope he has some good news.

Oh poor Lucy! Is the blood bright red or dark? The brighter the red the closer to the end of the GI tract it comes from, which is better. Darker, tarry blood I would worry more about a GI bleed. I would get her in as soon as possible. I hope she feels better soon, please keep us posted!

The blood is very bright red. She was just sitting on my lap and when I got up there was blood on my leg. Called the vet, and got the receptionist. She is going to get the vet in now and we are going to make it an earlier appointment. I don't like that they said it could be serious, even mentioning parvo or rat poison.

I lifted the poor lady's stub to see what was going on back there, and the underside of it is covered in blood. I am so stressed and worried about this. Is it 10:30 yet, why do I still have 2 hours.

If she is "covered" in blood and it is really that much, I wouldn't call, I would put her in the car and just go now.

You might want to leave early and get to the vet's a while before your appointment...if they see how sick she is they may get her in sooner...or if they have a "no show". I'd be worried if it was one of mine....but it could just be something icky she ate.

I agree, I'd probably be worried enough to just go to the vets now. They may just go ahead and squeeze you in, especially if the other appointments are just routine checkups, etc.

Poor baby, please let us know how things go. I'm glad your getting in right away.
I was going to say anal abcess but that does not go along with diarrhea or the vomiting for that matter.
Keeping good thoughts for Lucy.

I updated in Just Chat. She has a colitis infection. She has been given medicine to make her BMs solid and was given r/d prescription food for the next few days. They say that if she is not better by Thursday to bring her back in for an xray and more tests to make sure she hasn't eaten something that is still in her. She seems to be doing much better tonight. When I got home from class she was jumping all over the place. Still has blood following her stools. But she gobbled down the two tablespoons of the food that I was to give her and didn't throw it up.

Honey, you scared me with this description of her diarrhea, but I'm so happy that she's feeling better tonight. Jumping up and playing(even if you have a bloody tail) is a good sign. Praying that she continues to improve.

Will do. We just keep laying on the couch. I am beat after last night's lack of sleep. Think I might go to sleep once it gets dark.

OMG I just saw this thread, Colleen. Bet that WAS scary! Glad you got her in to the vet so fast. Looks like she's feeling better if she's jumping around. So glad the vet thinks this course of treatment will clear it up.
