My old gal Dixie has turned up with a lump that has me a little bit worried. It was barely visible last week (you had to almost use your imagination to find it). Well it's much bigger now. I've gotten an appointment at 12:30 to have the vet take a look at it.
I feel like it's just a lipoma (fatty tumor) but after loosing our Lab to bone cancer in 99', I'm a little bit paranoid
Please send positive thoughts for Dixie.... |

| Our husky mix Dexter used to have really large fatty tumors. The vet will tell you. |

Thanks y'all!
The vet said that it's a fatty tumor. Pretty much what I thought. I'll just basically keep an eye on it and leave it be unless it get's really big. It is right over her rib cage on her underside and I wanted to make sure that it wasn't "anchored". After going through bone cancer with our Lab several years ago, I just wanted to be sure. |

Hi Rachael,
Did they do a needle biopsy on it? Sasha was full of lumps and bumps all over, but she had 2 huge ones that concerned me - one on the right side of her front chest and the other under her left armpit. I must have had them needle aspirated 10 times each before I believed they were just fatty tumors!! |

Sue,
No needle biopsy. He didn't feel it was necesary at this point. If it gets much bigger, he'll remove the whole thing. I feel good about his opinion. Being a former vet tech, I pretty much felt positive that it was a lipoma, but the old overprotective mom in me wanted to hear the doc tell me He's a really nice guy and a good vet. He didn't even charge me an office call which was real nice of him. |

It's nice to have good one's out there. That's for sure. He has told me in the past that he respects my reputation as a vet tech (it's a small town) and that if they ever come up with a cure for rheumatoid arthritis-he wants me on his staff! LOL |
