My old gal Dixie has turned up with a lump that has me a little bit worried. It was barely visible last week (you had to almost use your imagination to find it). Well it's much bigger now. I've gotten an appointment at 12:30 to have the vet take a look at it.

I feel like it's just a lipoma (fatty tumor) but after loosing our Lab to bone cancer in 99', I'm a little bit paranoid

Please send positive thoughts for Dixie....

You're in my thoughts. Hope it's just a fatty tumor.

Our husky mix Dexter used to have really large fatty tumors. The vet will tell you.

Thanks y'all!

The vet said that it's a fatty tumor. Pretty much what I thought. I'll just basically keep an eye on it and leave it be unless it get's really big. It is right over her rib cage on her underside and I wanted to make sure that it wasn't "anchored". After going through bone cancer with our Lab several years ago, I just wanted to be sure.

Hi Rachael,

Did they do a needle biopsy on it?  Sasha was full of lumps and bumps all over, but she had 2 huge ones that concerned me - one on the right side of her front chest and the other under her left armpit.  I must have had them needle aspirated 10 times each before I believed they were just fatty tumors!!

Sue,

No needle biopsy. He didn't feel it was necesary at this point. If it gets much bigger, he'll remove the whole thing. I feel good about his opinion. Being a former vet tech, I pretty much felt positive that it was a lipoma, but the old overprotective mom in me wanted to hear the doc tell me He's a really nice guy and a good vet. He didn't even charge me an office call which was real nice of him.

It's nice to have good one's out there. That's for sure. He has told me in the past that he respects my reputation as a vet tech (it's a small town) and that if they ever come up with a cure for rheumatoid arthritis-he wants me on his staff! LOL
