Okay, so CoCo hasn't been herslef for a day or too. Nothing serious, I donlt think, just a little more laid back and clingy and a little sleepy. No throwing up, or wobbling or anything, so I think she either has a cold or her stomach is upset from two days of car rides. Ricky has convinced me not to call the vet because I tend to be a hypochondriac.

But, her breath smells like a toxic sewer. It is aweful, and she hasn;t really eaten much, except for a few treats, nothing different or stinky.

So this is my question.(s)

1. Is there anything I would have here that would make her breath not smell like a sewer?

2. Should I be concerned healthwise since it has never smelt bad before?

Help!!!!

Check her teeth, she may have a tooth going bad.

I poked all around her mouth and nothing seemed wrong. She is only a year, so its shouldn't be that, plus I had her teeeth cleaned not too long ago. Could it be that??

If her teeth are ok then I'd give her probiotics for a few weeks.  The good / bad bacteria in her gut may be out of balance.

Hi Maggie,
I just had this same issue about 2 weeks ago. Someone here posted for me to check again with my vet. It turned out that Buddy's anal glands were impacted and infected. I know it sounds gross, but it may be that your dog has "butt breath" due to trying to clean her bottom. With Buddy it did not present itself by scooting. Just a thought and well worth the 20 dollar vet check. His breath improved in two days.
Hope this helps!

Yup, sewer breath 99 percent of the time = anal glands, could be impacted or infected.
