And she was sooo good! I asked if she wanted to take them out and had her lay on her back. I put her leash on but had only my two hands to do everything so I just put the end of the leash under my leg. Just enough restraint that she knew I had it on her. She laid still and for any of you who have had stitches you know that it stings and pulls the skin as they are pulled out. She looked a little worried but held really still. I gave her a minute between each stitch to look at what I was doing and even smell the stitches after I took each one out so she would understand. I was as gentle as humanly possible but I know it hurt! She did beautifully and the area seems to be holding just fine. All pink healthy skin underneath! Maybe that will help her be less itchy. Last night was horrible! I literally had to sleep with her in my arms to keep her from licking. I woke up literally covered in dog hair! Yuk... But YAY! That's another hurdle we've managed to hop this week.

Oh, that made me feel better today, just knowing that those itchy stitches are gone from her, and she is healing nicely!  I always take the stitches out of my girls after a spay....but that's usually only about 4 stitches.  Good Job Ladyfern!

Morning! yep, I took them out myself and wondered if I should even attempt it with no one else at home but Shiloh and I have pretty darned good communication skills these days it seems. I just asked her if she wanted them out and told her it would help her not to itch so much and she was pretty still. She's such a good girl! Yeah Paul, makes me feel better too. And there's no doubt that she feels better. She's not twitching and flinching and changing positions every 3 seconds. She has so much road rash on her inner pelvis area that the stitches would poke into the raw places everytime she closed her legs. At least that part is over with now!

Spolied monster! As soon as I was done she stood up and went directly to my coffee cup and helped herself as if to say, I deserve it! (Now we all know dogs don't drink coffee!)

Thanks, me too! Soon we'll be able to play like normal. Funny how kids and dogs keep a person feeling young. I've felt blah the entire time she has been down. We've been so limited in what we can do!

What a good girl she is! She sounds a lot like my Mayfly, holding still but looking at everything I'm doing to her (she's had allergic reactions and irritated stitches from spaying).

She sounds so well behaved. She just wants to help you help her. That is absolutely fantastic. I'm glad to hear her stitches successfully got removed and that she is one step closer to being healed. I bet she can't wait to be up and running as well.

I know we've all said it tons of times before but we are so very fortunate to have these little individuals in our lives! What a special gift we all share, huh? Smiles

I used to have a min pin the LOVED coffee. He would drink it right down. Teddy loves orange soda, and coke. I think he like the bubbles on his tongue.

She's doing really well. Belly is more normal pink color than red... I worked on the fences yesterday and she has an area that is a "safe zone" that encircles the house so she can roam around without a lead. She seemed a little apprehensive to be out there alone at first but she has been going in and out on her own all morning. (Means the doors stay open because she can't jump up and bang on the door to demand "IN" as per usual! But that's ok. Thanks for asking! Ok, I need to be nosy I guess. What's the matter with PamWh? I hear you are under the weather? I hope you feel better real soon!
