So we've decided to start clipping our rattie's nails at home and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a specific product or brand of clippers that has worked well for you? Or even better yet, swear by?

And any tips on actually doing it? I think our little one's a little squeamish when it comes to getting her nails cut...

Any help would be appreciated -- thanks!

I am interested in hearing some tips on this as well.  I just bought some random nail clippers I found at the local pet store.  I lay them on their backs kind of in the crack of my legs when I am sitting on the couch and they do okay, but after I clip the nails, they always seem really sharp.  Is there a way to avoid this?

I take Savanna to the Groomer, they clip and file. No sharp edges. Yep, I am lazy.

Clip and grind is the way to go. A Dremmel from Wal-Mart works just fine. Clip them short and just use the Dremmel weekly.

I took my girls to the vet to have their nails cut last time. But when I am able to convince them to let me cut a nail or two, I just use regular human nail clippers. I have never cut the quick with them.

My two are squemish when it comes to loud noises so a dremmel would not work for us.  We use just some standard doggie clippers we purchased at Pet Smart.  Make sure you don't cut down too far.  We have some "Quickstop" on hand, just in case, but I don't think my husband has ever cut too far.  Afterwards we give them treats and they're good to go.
