Ok, I was reading through the forum and noticed a few times people talking about brushing their dogs teeth.  So I thought... eh, couldn't hurt!  So silly me went to my favorite pet store and bought a toothbrush and paste!   Without researching first!  Doh!

So now I'm a little hesitant to try it because I'm not finding much info on this brand on the internet.  So have any of you heard of Petrodex?

Oh, and how the heck do you brush a dogs teeth?  Any suggestions?

That's the one I have too. Savanna is easy to do. I put her on my lap and just play with her, then just kinda start putting the brush in her mouth. She likes the taste. (it's poultry flavor ). She thinks it's a game now, been doing it for a couple of years. Good luck.

Has anyone tried using an electric toothbrush?
Sounds silly but you can get them for cheap these days. And they work so good!

I havent tried it yet.. my poor dogs will probably hate me!

I use that kind, too. And I just sit down on the floor with them and left their lips while I brush their teeth. All three of my dogs like the taste of the toothpaste. When I first introduced it to them, I used to squeeze the paste way down into the toothbrush and would let them lick it off. Then I would brush their teeth gently with it. Now mine are all used to it so they just sit there and tolerate it.

I just saw a show on PBS yesterday a vet was on there showing how to brush dog's teeth. He did say to never use human toothpaste because they swallow it.

haha the electric toothbrush is a good idea, but i would just be hesitent because if would freak them out. i mean a grinder is one thing they can tolerate but try brushing your teeth with the electric, feel how it vibrates and tingles, it seems like something like that would scare the crap out of them but JMO. maybe someone on here ACTUALLY knows if its a good idea or bad...
