But a lot of dogs do Tauney. Your dogs obviously don't have allergies now, but when a dog does, IAMS is not going to help them.

Yes, I can see sticking with something that works for sure. I hate to think that I may have predisposed her to the allergies by feeding her food with alot of grains in it. You know I am kind of thinking how these things work for humans also. I know I would not be switching brands if she was not having all the problems. I also read on the AVMA site that what you feed your dog has alot to do with it's health and longevity. This is probably why I am being very careful now.

I'll just mention, since no one else has, about the possibility of feeding your dog a raw diet. I currently feed a commercial raw food called primal (http://www.primalpetfoods.com) and supplement with a small amount of grain free kibble (http://www.naturesvariety.com) I know some other members feed natures variety raw, or make their own. I'd like to make my own but I am still researching and trying to figure out the feasibility. Anyway, just wanted to throw that out there for you. Here's some info on it: http://www.dogaware.com/dogfeeding.html and http://www.rawfed.com/myths/

Good Luck!

I had a dalmation that ate everything under the sun i swear. She lived to be 14. There is a lot of discussion on what to properly feed your dog. common sense is good. what may be more important is to have your dogs teeth professionally cleaned by your vet once a year. This could extend the life of your dog up to an extra 7 years of good health.....Just a thought.

I did the raw diet for a while, Nibbler loved it and it made his coat look really good. But I just got tired of the mess... I am not a meat person and raw meat sickens me.

I bought the NB duck and potato once and Charlie wouldnt touch it! I dont think he ate for a few days or else he stole the Huskys food outside! Does any one know of another good all life stages? Charlie hated the Canidae too, good thing I only got a sample! Tucker will eat anything! We are having a hard time keeping him away from the cat food!

I tried many different foods for my dogs after the big recall last year. They liked most of them. I have recently switched back to Nutro Lamb and Rice. Already my girls look  better, and Savanna has lost weight. It works for me. And, yes, I know about the change. So, with so many products out there for your dogs, maybe you just need to look around, and try different brands. Just avoid foods with corn, & wheat. I know soy is also an alergin for some dogs, (not mine). Good luck with your final choice.

I feed Rowdy Orijen right now. He's on the regular adult formula, but they do also make a Fish only formula. I pay quite a bit for the Orijen, but, I'm quite happy with them. I've also used Canidae without any of my dogs getting picky and EVO. We've bought the NB Duck and Potato treats, and the dogs love them. I have a dog on a hypoallergenic diet, and I plan to get her on NB Duck and Potato as soon as I get the OK from the vet.
