ok, whew, that went just fine!

First, they weighed them both...Trixi is 12.7 lbs and Toa is ALREADY 9.4 !!!  tomorrow he will be 16 weeks old....what does this mean for his future growth?  isnt there a way to tell how big they might be based on their weight as a puppy?

anyway, Trixi wasnt due for any shots, so we just got her microchipped....she wasnt too happy about it...poor thing...but she perked right up when i gave her a treat....

then, Toa got his rabies vaccination...poor guy...he was sooo good....they LOVED him and thought he was beautiful and "different"  they said they had never seen one that color...they put him down as white and silver?!?!  weirdos!...dont they know BLUE when they see it....

I dont know if i like my vet so much....

then, i asked some questions, I mentioned that Toa has has a bit of goopy in the corners of his eyes maybe every other day, usually when he wakes up....the vet looked in his eyes, said they looked fine and then kind just shrugged her shoulders?!?!  ummm....answers? information?  how about "well, they look fine for now, but look our for the purple slime that might shoot from his nostril"  SOMETHING.....anyway...she was just so non-chalant...ya know?  I asked about his "hair loss" and told her that one of his littermates had come up positive for mange/mites and he came up negative...she said "just keep an eye on it and we will scrape again if it gets worse"  then i asked her..."well what do YOU think?"  again, she just kind shrugged her shoulders and said ...looks ok for now, just keep an eye on it...

i have a problem with this non-chalant attitude...i am a concerned and responsible pet owner and if i have questions i want information and answers....hmmm...maybe she thinks im young and dumb or something.....she is getting paid to LOVE AND DOTE on my puppies DARNIT!!!

what do you guys think??

First: I'm glad they're both doing fine.

As for the vet, if you don't have a good rapport, I'd start looking for another

My vet is kind of the same way. Sometimes it's nice, sometimes it's annoying. But if the vet says it's fine, there's probably no cause for concern. Like that's going to stop your worries, but I hope it helps! But if you don't like your vet, I would say change. You definitely want someone you trust.

I would be looking for another vet! I hate when vets act this way..hence the reason I do NOT use the local vet here in town...I drive 40 miles to Spanky's vet. I love her & Spanky gets all wiggley when he sees her and the staff there (they have him SPOILED!).
Dr.Kendrick is the type of vet that will sit & talk with you, answer ALL your questions and concerns, she LOVES what she does and it shows.
When I had to put my Malinois down this past September, she not only gave my a hug & told me to call her IF I needed to talk, she & her staff also sent a sympathy card personally signed by each one of them & also called to check on me not just one time but a few times..how rare is that!

When you own a Rattie....you KNOW you are in your right mind

THE MEANING OF RESCUE

Now that I'm home, bathed, settled and fed,
All nicely tucked in my warm new bed.
I'd like to open my baggage
Lest I forget,
There is so much to carry -
So much to regret.
Hmm... Yes there it is, right on the top
Let's unpack Loneliness, Heartache and Loss,
And there by my leash hides Fear and Shame.
As I look on these things I tried so hard to leave -
I still have to unpack my baggage called Pain.
I loved them, the others, the ones who left me,
But I wasn't good enough - for they didn't want me.
Will you add to my baggage?
Will you help me unpack?
Or will you just look at my things -
And take me right back?
Do you have the time to help me unpack?
To put away my baggage,
To never repack?
I pray that you do - I'm so tired you see,
But I do come with baggage -
Will you still want me?

I understand where you're coming from with that as mine can be the same way. However, the whole staff, including the vet, is great with the dogs and always given good treatment for a reasonable price so I stick with them. If you're not happy then shop around and find one who will give you more detailed answers.

There are too many GOOD Vets out there!! Find another. Vet care has to include bedside manner and trust!!!!! My vet , after treating my "kids" has given me his cell and home #. He has also stood out in the woods with me and cried when we had to put a mare down a few years back. He said it was his fault she died, he was on vacation and She saw a different vet.

There is no joy greater than being owned by a Rattie!!
