My puppy has an overbite.  She is 5 months old and the vet told me.

She is getting her permanent teeth and I was wondering if it it possible it will correct itself?   I tried to look at her teeth but she is wild!  She does NOT want me to look at them.    Do you think it hurts when I pull her upper lip up a bit like a growl?  Anyone have any hints how I can train her to let me look?  Treats?  Clickers?   Distractions?  I am guessing that if I sit on her and Force this it wont make it easier

Also, has anyone done any confirmation and is that an automatic out?

Thanks

I believe overbites and underbites are disqualifications...at least for breeding, not sure about showing.
Did the vet recommend pulling any of the baby teeth? Mitzy has and underbite and one of her baby teeth was retained...the vet pulled it when she was spayed. The reason is it crowds the adult teeth and can cause decay.

It shouldn't hurt her, I do it all the time to mine. One thing you can do is when you get her mouth open, on the side you're not looking at kind of tuck the lip to the teeth, her insticts are not to bite down on her own lip, then do the other side, after you're done give her a treat and tell her good girl. I brush my dog's teeth so they're used to it.
