Phoenix has been really picky lately about what he is eating(won't eat), so I reasearched some foods on dogfoodanalysis.com and decided to try a different food. I went to the pet food store where i usually go, the lady is super and very helpful. She gave me a million samples of different foods that I wanted to try, they are: Evo small bites red meat, Evo small bites chicken, Innova, and baked tradition. I tried the Evo red meat, and my goodness Phoenix gobbled it right down! I researched the food and it seems really good! Does anybody else use this food? If so, what do you think? |

My girls get EVO small bites. They love it. I started them on it because another dog had grain allergies (EVO is grain-free), and the others kept begging for it. Molly is my picky eater, and even she will eat it. My vets, when I told them what I was feeding them, were pleased. "that's a great diet." In fact, I have to go buy some more soon. |

I have begun to wonder if Phoenix might have the same allergy??? He has been scratching, and licking certaing spots so I researched and came up with grain allergies too. I thought it couldn't hurt to try Evo, as it seems to be a really good food! So my vet should be happy too then Believe me when I say I've tried every food under the sun......Thanks Lisabeth!

I knew that the ratties aunt had some grain allergies...the breeders mentioned it when we picked the girls up. Molly was constantly chewing and licking her legs, and since I already had the food, and she wanted it anyways, I thought I'd see how she did on it. Her chewing/licking problem stopped within a few weeks. Let us know how it works for Phoenix! |

I'm feeding EVO reduced fat now and my guys love it. I love that it's very low carb and worked wonders for helping Lucky lose weight. It's very calorie dense, so be careful of the amount you feed. When I started feeding it, I added no-salt-added green beans to help fill him up, because he only got about a half cup per day.(he weighed about 28 pounds) I do suggest, however, that you add water to it. Any kibble is unnaturally dry to a dogs system, and with the high protein content, I feel it aids the kidneys to remove waste. Dogs usually will not drink enough water on their own so it helps to increase the moisture content of the food. |

| anyone use solid gold? We were at the pet store the other day and thought it looked pretty good.....wea re trying to decide what to feel the pups, cause no matter what i give them, they want the OTHERS food...i was going to try to compromise on a food that they can eat as puppies and get what they need, but that Trixi can also eat...hmmm....maybe i should try Evo?!?! |

My Guen went through all types of food the best food I found was Wellness they are a very holistic food and great prices the only bad thing is they are just coming out with a small bites but, the puppy is perfect and the adult food is great and she loves it. I would look into it if you still havent found any thing she likes. Also it comes in lots and lots of flavors I use the can and dried. My dog has allergies to And I use it with the canned |

I found some Wellness bones recently...the girls didn't like them at first, but now they can't get enough. And they don't even know it's good for them!

| I was feeding Rowdy EVO small bites, but he seemed to be having issues with it for some reason. He was losing fur on his head and had some dry, scabby areas forming on his ears. I tried a bit of fish oil, but it gave him diarhea, so I've taken him off the EVO. He's now on Orijen and doing great. I don't know what the problem was- both foods are high protein with similar ingredients. He loves his EVO treats, though! |

See and my mothers dog had constant diarrhea on Blue Buffalo but does great on Canidae. I think it is a matter of what quality food works for each dog, they all seem to tolerate different things.

| I just bought Evo small bites for Bella and she LOVES it. She can't wait to eat now, haha. I was feeding her Solid Gold before and she liked it too but the pieces were too big and she likes the small kibble better I think. It was really expensive though! |

I'd be careful how much you feed. I'm feeding EVO reduced fat now, and for a 20 pound dog they recommend 1.5 cups. At 440 cal/cup thats 660 calories. The calculation I've been using says I should feed about 343 calories to maintain a 20 lb dog, or a little over 3/4 cup.

You take the desired weight (in pounds) and divide that by 2.2 . Multiply that number by 30, and add 70. That is the number of calories you feed for that weight. Of course it needs to be tweaked for each individual dog, but seems to be working for Lucky. Oscar, on the other hand, needs a few extra calories because he's so high strung. |
