Kim, I wouldn't be so quick to blame the sitter. This could be a lot of things -- including just his tummy. I am just thinking he may needs some meds to help stop the diarrhea. And yes, I forgot to mention the pinch test, so glad you already knew about that. And, don't go feeling guilty about not rushing him to the vet, because he has had these issues before and they usually clear up in a couple of days. I'm just thinking if it is still going on, like I said, if nothing else he needs some meds to stop the diarrhea. Poor little guy.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I love this sitter! So if anything did happen at her place, I know it would have been unintentional, and I have no idea, something could have happened when he got back home... I just have no idea and its killing me not knowing... you know how that is!

Kevin just got home and fed Mic his lunch, took him out for a walk and said everything went fine. I think Mic is finally on empty, so we'll see how he is once his lunch hits him. He is going to call the vet now but they usually aren't that busy so we'll most likely get in today.

That is good keep us posted Kim!

On the upside, at least Mic has the runs in the sunshine and not 2 feet of snow like here!

snowy runs would be gross.

You mentioned that she feeds raw... do you think it's possible that he may have gotten hold of soem and it totally didnt agree with him??

By the way, thanks for the tidbit on how to tell if your pup is hydrated, i'm gonna test nibs and fry when I get home lol

NP, I know, I test Mic all the time even when I know he's fine It's kinda funny to do!

She feeds all the dogs in their kennels so there is no aggression or food sharing, so the chances are slim I would think... but I guess that can't be ruled out! I mean, I can't imagine getting used to a raw diet would be very much fun, from what I've heard anyway it takes longer than kibble... however I don't know much about raw so I as usual have no clue! hehe, I'm on a roll today!

Well, I missed all this as we lost our internet at work today. Glad Mic is feeling better now!
I've never heard of getting worms and getting that sick so quickly....worms have a life cycle and if he ingested some worm eggs at the sitters it would take a while for symptoms to appear....and you would notice changes in him long before symptoms got that severe.

Well, I just wanted to update you all on how the Mic Monster is doing for the moment.

its good news!! The vet said she is almost positive that it is related to stress. Since he has pretty bad separation anxiety and a history of tummy issues, plus he has a low immune system.... its not surprising that he would have "liquid squirts" (I swear she called them that!). It is also considered Secondary Severe Diarrhea. She said it has probably moved into this bad of a stage because we should have fasted him right away for 24 hours instead of just feeding him like normal, good lesson learned huh! He is not dehydrated so that is a major plus He has been on a bland diet of chicken/rice since last night and had yogurt today, so she said to keep him on that diet until his stool is normal again. She feels that is better than any prescription she could give him. She also suggested pepto if we wanted to try that. But she did say if he keeps up the "liquid squirts" tonight, to bring him back in tomorrow or Saturday for testing (no office charge) but she didn't feel it was necessary to do today since he is doing better today. But the really good news is that he hasn't had the "liquid squirts" since this morning, and then just more like normal diarrhea after I got home this afternoon, just a little though. He ate a good size dinner and has kept it all in so far tonight!! And I think he got his energy back too because he is running around like normal again! He must have been starving too because he ate that dinner in about 10 seconds

So if all goes well I think we're going to be ok Phew! These little buggers sure do know how to get us freaked out huh?! Always with the dramatics

But I'm still crossing my fingers that all goes well, because if not it could be something more severe, like worms (but she kind of doubts worms for reasons like MB explained) or a virus.... So right now tonight and tomorrow morning our major concern is keeping him well hydrated and hoping for NO LIQUID SQUIRTS!!

I am glad to hear he is getting better. Poor bugger missed you! And just my own 2 cents. If Mic has a low immune system then I would beware of feeding him raw. I know some think this is actually better, but IMO they don't have the immune system to tolerate it and fight off germs and bacteria. Not that you are feeding raw, but the sitter shouldn't either.

Thanks guys He is doing much better today! Actually last night his energy was so built up that poor Kev was up until about 1am playing with him! He wouldn't sleep!! And he held in all his food

This morning he went potty and things came out much better Not 100% yet, but much much better! I think it was definitely stress related.
