Okay, so I know that alot of ratties shed a good bit but Jack and Jeter rarely shed before.  It seems since I switched them to Wellness Core I have a ridiculous amount of shedding.  Is it the protein?  Or maybe just a coincidence?  I kind of figured Jeter would start shedding as he got older, but Jack has never been one to shed much at all.  They were on NB Duck and Potato before.  Maybe I will switch them back   Jack also gets a triple dose of fish oils, does that increase shedding?  Nothing new though, he has been on those for awhile. Help!  I am drownig in hair

Sarah- CoCo did this as well when I switched her food. Surprisingly the thing I found helped was the treats I began feeding her. I give her Authority skin and coat treats and I noticed a difference after a few weeks. I give her one in the morning and one at night and her coat is shinier and she doesn't appear to be shedding as much. Also, I have seen someone mention feeding ther dogs fatty acids, but I'm not sure in what form or how much.

What kind of food did you switch her to? It seems odd that a better food would make them shed more!

I switched her from Nutro Ultra puppy to Royal Canidae... who knows why she started shedding. It also could have been the change of weather here but it was driving me insane.

Okay I am bumping to see if anyone else has opinions. I had to get more food so I bought a bag of the NB Duck and Potato(what they were on before) to see if it helps. Jack isn't just shedding he has bald spots now under his belly, neck and is getting very thin elsewhere. Jeter is shedding too though(not like Jack) so I don't know if it is his Lupus acting up or what but it happened when I switched him to Core. But being such a good high protien food I though it would help. I am at a loss for my poor dude. If it isn't one thing it's another!

I do not know if there is ANY correlation at all, but about 3 years ago, I was on a strict weight watchers diet, and I started losing my hair. I found out from my hair dresser that it was because I had so drastically reduced my fat intake. Check out the fat content of both of the foods and see if the new one has less. Just a thought...

There is nothing better than wine and chocolate!

Good though but after looking Core has 4percent more fat. Ugh, I dropped his pred. dose too somewhere around that. I guess we'll see.
