I feel so terrible that I do not even want to post this and I am ready for harsh judgement or critisizm....or just some advice would be even better....
I was online just now...checking the website and a few minutes later Trixi came in with something in her mouth...AS USUAL......but...this time, it was NAIL GLUE...yes...the kind that I use for my acryllics...she had gotten up on the table and in my purse....GRRR
I FREAKED OUT...took it away and she was just licking and licking...i fed her a couple treats hoping it would help and gave her soem water....this was about 10 minutes ago...she seems completely fine...she only got a tad in her mouth because it wasnt opened and there were just a coupel tiny tooth holes in it....I FEEL TERRIBLE....
she has dried crusty glue on her lips and gums but is acting fine...i threw a couple toys to her and she caught them...she drank and ate just fine and does seem uncomfortable...i looked it up online and the answer seems to be keep a close eye out for anything unusual but that glue isnt something to be terribly concerned about...
if you guys know anything else i can do to help, please tell me im kind of freaking out and i feel like a bad mommy....please advice or suggestions!?? sorry to have let this happen....im gonna go play with her and chek back soon.... |

| You are NOT a terrible Mommy!! Anyone could have made the same mistake! I wouldn't have thought to take it out of my purse or to put my purse up any higher than normal either. |

| OK i just called the local emergency vet and told them what happened...she put me on hold for a minute and then came back and said that there should be an 1800 # on the nail glue bottle to call...and if not, then I can call the poison control for pets and it would cost $55 .....im a bit confused about why they didnt give any adivce themselves...i highly doubt if i call the nail glue company that they are going to have any veterinary advice.....?? |

you are not a terrible mom at all! ive gotten it in my mouth before too, dont ask... sometimes i do illogical things... it just doesnt taste that good, and takes a while to pick it off ur lips and tounge, but Im still here lol. No in all reality, It doesnt sound like she injested enough to harm her. the er vet tells me to do this all the time but its not worth the money to call. unless she shows some signs of being in trouble, then take her in. you can call the 800 number, they will tell u it can be toxic but they dont know in what amount and to call poison control |

Mary, you are NOT the worst mom ever. If you are... I am... when I left an unopened box of chocolate turtles on the coffee table and the next morning it was shredded.. the chocolate turtles were gone, and Hoss (my red dachshund) was waddling around like the goodyear blimp on short little legs.
Don't sweat it. No one is perfect! *hugs* |

I think we all have done something where we have felt we were the worst mommy in the world. As long as she is ok thats all that matters. |

| I completely understand this. For me it was one of my dogs breaking an old mercury thermometer. I did not know which one or if they hd ingested the mercury. I called the vet, called the pet poison control, paid the fee and was told that the dogs would be fine. How the dogs found the thermometer I have no clue...but I am watchful of what I keep in my house |

| I agree, Mary, that this was definitely just one of those things and it certainly doesn't make you a bad "Mommy". I'm certain she'll be just fine. Things happen. |

Sounds like she just got a tiny bit on her lips and maybe didn't ingest any of it. Don't worry about it, we all do these things! Funny story (only because it turned out ok): when I was first learning about horses the stable I was at had a cold/virus go through the barn. The owner was running around taking temps, forgot to put a string on the thermometer, LOST the thermometer up the butt of a gorgeous yearly filly! We freaked but luckily it came flying back out in a couple of minutes! |
