Do rat terriers get along with poodles?Cos i was thinking of getting a poodle since my dad said i can't get two of a kind of dog

My rattie gets along okay with my mom's miniature poodle. But they only see each other on the weekends for a few hours.

I don't think it matters what other breed of dog you get; each dog will have its own personality. That said, ratties generally do well with all types of dogs and other critters as well, especially when raised with them and properly trained.

Many of us have dogs of other breeds as well as our ratties and they all seem to get along. If dogs are introduced to each other as puppies and grow up together, most will get along. As far poodles - maybe research poodles some to see how they get along with other dogs?

Well, it goes without saying that it would be best to get another rat terrier! They are like potato chips - can't have just one!

My Ratties get along with a mini aussie and a big border collie. Actually they boss both of them around, as well as a Boston Terrier that comes to visit with a dauchsund, a lab/sharpie mix, a argintine mastiff, and two border collie/labs.

ANYTHING WORTH DOING IS WORTH OVERDOING Mom of eight, only three left at home! Pack leader to ten ratties: Maggie, Mysty, Berry, Simon, Ceecee and five puppies, Star,Sari, Bluebelle, Double stuf,and Snortie. As well as Ginger the Border Collie and a herd of turkeys!

Lucy gets along with pretty much all dogs. I don't think that breed really matters, especially if the puppy is being raised with the rat terrier. And the is no problem with getting another dog of the same breed.

I agree with everyone...ratties get along with pretty much any dog, but look into the breed you want...some are fussier than others about their playmates. Why doesn't your dad want more than 1 rattie? Mine wear each other out...I think they are better off with a rattie playmate.

I have an 11yr old poodle and a 11 month old Rattie and they get along fine. My rattie sometimes drives the poodle nuts b/c he wants to play and the poodle is tired...but that's going to happen with any older dog/younger dog. I will tell you that a poodle requires a LOT of upkeep. They HAVE to be groomed at least every 6-8wks, they can be very standoffish...Please make sure you do your homework on a poodle before you get one. I love mine, but will not have another.
