Can you tell us a little more about him? Is this a young puppy or an adult dog? There are many choices of food out there....you should pick one that doesnt' have any//much corn, wheat filler in it.
Canidae, Natural Balance, EVO/Innova are all good. I feed Nutro DRY Lamb and Rice small bites with Natural Balance Ultra premium mixed in. Here's a good link to educate yourself on food choices: www.dogfoodproject.com

| I was feeding Katie Nutro Lamb and Rice, but recently changed to Natural Balance. I think she likes the Natural Balance better than the Nutro. |

When mine were puppies I fed them more often and gave them the puppy variety of food (most brands will have those). As I remember I fed them about 1/2 cup in the morning and 1/2 cup in evening (I'm gone all day). But amounts can vary, depends on the size of your puppy, etc. If they are gobbling it up and seeming to be still hungry you can feed a little more...if they are leaving it then maybe cut back.
Also, I supplement my dogs diet with cooked eggs 1-2 times a week, fresh veggies like carrots and snap peas (not too much, just a few bites each day), cooked salmon - the human type in the pouch with no bones. Ratties seem to love veggies! Just be careful if you give any of these not to feed too much at first as that can cause tummy upset! And limit treats such as cheese, biscuits, etc. so he will be hungry for his food. |

| Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Natural Balance on the recall list? |

Natural Balance Venison foods (dry and canned) and some of their canned foods....see above link. I feed the dry Ultra Premium and Duck/Potato varieties. I just make sure there's no wheat gluten, rice protein concentrate, corn gluten, etc. in ANY food I feed. Nutro had some canned/pouch foods recalled, too...same thing. The Nutro Lamb & Rice doesn't have any of those things in it. |

| I just switched to Natural Balance too. Mine seem to like it a lot more than the Nutro Max I was feeding them. Plus the Natural Balance is for all ages so I can feed my 8 month old and my almost 4 year old the same food! And they make it here where I live so I can get it cheaper too! |
