Hiya can anyone help me?? I'm living in ireland and i am trying to find a toy rat terrier but no one has heard of them before. Would anyone know of any breeders in Ireland or how i could get one. I would be very gratefull for any help on this. I am going mad trying to find one

Hi. I did a search but was unable to locate any rat terrier breeders in Ireland. However, (and I do this each and every time someone inquires about getting a rattie) have you considered checking the animal rescue organizations there? I didn't find any definitive rat terriers, but all of the following terrier mixes are looking for a good home, and I'm sure would make a loving, grateful companion for you.

I see Rat Terriers around here a lot---seems like more and more people are knowing what they are and getting them.  Most of the breeders that I'm aware of are farmers who breed them not necessarily for pets, but for pest control!  Lucy is from a long line of MOLE-KILLERS---specifically bred for that purpose.  The man that we got her from was selling the puppies for $80 each, and he only had 2 left when we found her---Lucy and her brother, and he said he would let them both go for $80 for the pair.  Barb fenagled him down to $40 for the pair because he wanted them to have homes while they were still 7 weeks old---he didnt want to keep them any longer, because he wanted Lucy's mama to get back to mole killing.  They compete in this thing here.  So, actually, Lucy was technically a $20 rattie.  I think I got the deal of the century!

Breeders go for around 300 to 600 here.  Sonic was 140 from a shelter.  Sydney was 400 (but she is really a Parson Russell) but so closely resembles the rattie.
