I am new to the sight and I am loving what I am reading about everyone's Rat Terriers.  It is good to know that I am not crazy when I am telling people what my dog, Minnie does.  She sounds like everyone else's dog.  I have a questions though does anyone have a dog that nests (almost like a cat)  She does this when she is cold and when she is scared....especially when the vaccum is on or there is a thunder storm.  The funny part is that it is usually on carpet.  We laugh at her and tell her to stop and that just makes her mad at us.   What an attitude!!!

Daisy doesn't do that when she's scared. Thunderstorms don't phase her at all and the vacuum, she just gets on the back of the couch and watches it with a close eye LOL!!! But she will "pile up" and work her blankie to get it just right when she wants to lie down.

Yeah all my dogs nest in the blankets, they have to get the blanket just right before laying down.

Bailey does this with blankets, cusions, anything he wants to lay down on.  A few digs to tenderize and a circle or two for proper placement.  He seems to be outgrowing the carpet thing.  Guess he figures out it doesn't quite work the same if nothing happens.   He has been known to try and "dig through" the carpet but we quickly broke him of that.

Best regards,

Welcome to the group! Mine like a warm blankie in the winter, but don't really fuss over circling/nesting. They just get on it & let me pull it up over them.

Hi, my name is Jim. New to the group. Was reading about this nesting. My Polly Purebred (from underdog) cause she is so 'WOWWWWWWWWW" she tunnels under cushions and things like that. Is that normal? I will be posting pics of her soon. Took her from a guy that was letting her die of Parvo. Cost me 400.00 to keep her alive, and I love this runt. She is awesome

Jim: Welcome to you and Polly Purebred (love the name!)

I'm sure the digging under the cushions is perfectly normal And bless you for taking her and getting her well again. We cannot wait to see her and hear more about Polly!!

Jim, God Bless you for saving Polly Purebread. Sadie would nest a lot, and so does Newly (my mom's terrier of some sort).

LOVE HER!....glad you feel the same way....Trixi does this sometimes almost reminds me of a cat...rubbing the top of her back along me or blankets or cushions...she tunnels, nests and everything....gotta love em!

Both my Lab and my Rattie do a certain amount of "nesting" Katie loves to be under the covers, but she doesn't seem to be able to tunnel under -- she comes over and paws at me in bed to lift them for her! Does she have me trained or what!?
Welcome to the site, both of you. Pictures please!

I finally got off the computer last night and thought now where are my dogs? i went into my bedroom, and my lab is at the foot of the bed, and my rattie sproket, has "nested" himself under the covers, he unmade my bed, all the pillows were on the floor and he was sound asleep under the blankets. i told him thanks for warming me a spot. i guess they were tired of waiting on me and gave up and went to bed! lol
