I have two pups from the same litter, but they couldn't be more different.  Lucy is laid back and outgoing.  But Molly is more fearful.  I noticed this the first night we brought them home.  We were introducing them to our other dogs, and Molly shrieked when the adult dogs came near.  I thought they had hurt her...nope.  But after that first meeting, they've been fine, and I haven't heard that shriek since.  Although, family members have brought their dogs over for a visit, and Molly will do this weird moan/growl thing and run away.  Sometimes it's fine later with her and the other dog, other times it's not.  It depends on the dog.

Has anyone experienced anything like this?  How do you make intros go more smoothly?  I've always had dogs, but never one who did stuff like this.

Thanks.

I'm sorry, I can't help. Some one else here surely will tho. Savanna hates all other dogs. No matter what I have tried, she's just not good at meeting new dogs. Welcome to the site!!  Good to have you here!

My dogs are totally different when meeting other dogs, too. Just different personalities. One thing you might try is that when Molly is meeting a new dog, try to have the meeting on neutral ground (neither her house/yard or the other dog's house/yard).

This is the best way to introduce any new dogs to each other. Might not help in Molly's case, sounds as if she's just shy. As long as she gets along with the dogs later it's not a big deal....she just has to "warm up" to them. JMO
