Silly question...

I mentioned in one of my threads that we've picked out our new baby. One question...how common, or uncommon is a solid black face?

I've seen a variety of piebald, or bi-color, tri-colored, even solid blue faces, or apricot faces, but I hardly see ratties with a solid black face. Is this more common than I know? Puppy (we haven't picked out a name yet) is cute as can be and we're definitely not switching to one of his brothers, but he's the only one with an all black face, just seems odd (or unique).

One of our members, Jules, has a very pretty Rattie named Patsy that has a solid black face.  I think it is a little more rare than the tri-colors, though, but very adorable!  How soon will you be getting "Puppy"?

Thanks Paul. I didn't think that a solid face was very common.

We won't be able to get the new baby until the end of July. We're all so excited.

Well Paul, isn't Lucy's face solid black except for the ring around her nose?

yes---but that white ring keeps it from being solid black.

He is adorable. I bet you can't wait to bring him home. I don't think that the all black face is all that common but very cute.

Bindy has the brindle coloration, and the only white on her is on her chest and paws! But of course, she's a shelter dog so I have no idea if she's a full rattie or not.

The Solid black face is common it seems. Patsy's dad had a solid black face and every litter he fathered threw a puppy like him. Patsy had a puppy with a solid black face lol I guess they inherit it from someone like red hair lol

Button has a nearly all black face. Hard to see her eyes in dim light, but we just love it!

My Niko is actually solid black, which I think is not as common in Rat Terriers any long. Though I was reading that the Fiest terriers, which is where Rat Terriers come from, were actually more his coloring.

Bindy's parent- I love the brindle coloring. I really want to one day own a dog with the brindle coloring. It is extremely rare to find a rattie with the brindle coloring!! WAY CUTE!

I saw an almost all black rattie last year. She was all blk but a tiny bit of white on the tuff of her chest. Kinda like the all white ratties have a dot of brown on them somewhere lol

My grandma had a rattie that was all black with a one lone brown spot. It was funny!
