It's most likely he is in pain. A vet visit is n order.

I agree...I would get him to the vet and see if there isn't something that could be causing him so much pain that he is lashing out. At his age, it wouldn't be out of the ordinary, I suspect. Hopefully, the vet can help you keep him comfortable for some time to come.

First of all welcome! I would have to agree, he's hurting.
If a diagnosis of a neurological disorder causes his legs to feel numb
"walking weird" the nerves can hurt. Plus that would make me feel
grumpy too. There's pills that can help. Hope your baby feels better
soon.

My 13 year old Rattagan gets like that when he is hurting. He has had 2 leg surgeries and has arthritis and is in pain quite a bit, some days more than others. My vet has been able to help him with medications that ease his pain. I hope your vet can help you with your boy.

I agree, he is probably in pain. I am sure your vet would give him something for the discomfort because, sadly, it could be chronic at his age.

Agreed, time to see the vet. He could be in pain, he also could be in an altered mental state due to senile dementia or something else that is failing within him. Sixteen is quite elderly for any breed of dog! Hope something can be done to make him more comfortable.

I agree it's most likely something medical....
