Our Rat Terrier/Chihuahua mixed has became very aggressive lately... he started off by attacking our full breed Chihuahua over food and their beds (they both have their own beds, but they sometimes switch it up or share, but then there's times that they don't want each other near their beds).

But now he's been attacking us!

Normally whenever we would get bitten by him it was due to trying to get him off of the Chihuahua whenever they would fight and he would feel bad about it after doing so.

But lately he's been attacking us at times when we try to pick him up from his bed to put him in his crate at night or when we're just petting him while he's in his bed or whenever he has something in his mouth that he shouldn't have... it's off and on, sometimes he's okay with it, other times he just gets really angry and attacks.

We have no idea what to do with him... he's such a sweet dog, but then he has his days when he's just so aggressive!

I would like to get this fix, he's only a year and three months old... so he's still young... just wonder what we're doing wrong with him to make him feel so aggressive.

I know one of the questions usually asked, when a dog is agressive, is whether or not they are neutered or spayed. Could be testosterone...

He's neither... I never thought of that being an issue... I mean he's so young.

babies making babies!

wow, i just read on how neutering a dog can really help with behavior! gotta seriously look more into it, we weren't planning on neutering him, because we didn't want to take his manhood (lol) but if this will help, then awesome!

getting him neutered will no doubt help his aggression issues...the sooner you can get it done, the better he will be in the long run...both behaviorally and health wise. don't think of it as taking away his manhood...you will be adding more happy, healthy years to his life.
