So, there isn't really a particularly good place for this post, but I need to vent about it, and all of you are animal lovers so I know you'll understand.
I have been looking online at all of the rescue sites for a friend for Blue (www.ratbonerescues.com, www.ratterrierresq.com, www.dogsindanger.com, and local sites, which I shouldn't be doing because I still have at least 3 months) and for a lot of the dogs, it says "we are moving and can't take our dog along."
Now, I don't know about you guys, but as my boyfriend and I are looking for a place, if we see "no pets" it's automatically crossed off of our list. It's like, Blue is our child (we are 21 and 22 with no human children) and so is my cat Gary. We would NEVER move ANYWHERE where we couldn't take our animals.
I just hate how some people think of their animals as disposable, and don't seem to have much of a care. There are circumstances where you may need to get rid of your pets, but I don't think that is one of them unless you were forced to live in a place with no pets, not if you just choose it! UGH.
It absolutely drives me crazy. |

| I am the same way. Just today at work this gal brings in 2 shih tzus to be groomed and announced they need a new home with in two weeks and if she does not find one then she is going to put the 12 year old one to sleep and take the other 3 year old to the shelter. I am like oh my god how can you even think of getting rid of your babies and she said well the new husband just doesn't like them. I am like well get rid of the husband and keep the dogs. Really ticked me off. I hope they find a good home. |

There are some people in this world who should not be allowed to have pets!!
And idiots who decide that they can't take their pet with them when they move

Im going to buy an apartment building and put up a sign that says no kids. I wonder how many people will try to pawn off their kids on someone else to get in. I never understood this either. I have lived in so many apartments before settling in my house. If pets werent allowed we crossed it off too. I think frequently people just dont want to put up with the hassle of moving the pet with them and it may not always be that where they are moving doesnt allow them. |

OMG! How can you have a dog for 12 years and then say I'll put it to sleep because my new husband doesn't like the dog? OMG! I'm just like...speechless....well not really...but some of the things I'm saying can't be typed on here! When I remarried 13 years ago, I had a 12 year old Maltese who had recently gone blind. She was still very active and she was my BABY! If my husband had said...I don't want your dog to move to NY (I lived in NC at the time) I would have said...ok...then I won't move either. When I finally did have to put her to sleep (5 years later for medical reasons) it broke my heart and was the hardest thing I've ever done.
I don't know how people can be so heartless. I agree...some people should not be allowed to have pets.

I am glad you all feel the same way! That's disgusting about the new husband situation - and I love the comment about the No Kids. LOL. |

| Oh my gosh, many years ago when I moved half way across the country I moved my cat with me! Quite a trip but it was worth it. Now I have dogs and a cat, wouldn't even think of moving without them if I had to. Even tho I have kids, grandkids, and now greats, my pet are a part of my family, my fur kids. And I agree, they can be better behaved than my people kids can be! |

| There's no way!! We had to rent a place QUICK after the fire, and the best we could find was a person who'd let us keep the dogs outside. It worked for a while...but this time when we moved, if they said "No pets" they were immediately crossed off the list. I'd sooner get rid of my husband! |

| That really burns my butt! I would never look for a place that would not allow my dog or cat. How ridiculous! As for the lady that was going to put down her 12 yr old because of the new hubby...well I can't even say........... ARGH!!!! |

I think there are people who feel their animals are family, and those who see them as possessions. I have looked at many Rescue sites over the past month or so, couldn't believe it when I came across a posting for a Chi in Texas whose owner was getting rid of her because (I can hardly type this, it makes me so angry and sad!) the color of her dog's coat didn't match her carpets. Unfortunately with the huge number of foreclosures, there are more and more pets being left behind, euthanized, taken to shelters. I told my husband I'd live in a tent or on the street before I'd give up my dogs. Luckily for him, he agreed, or I might of had to get rid of him... Kate |

| i know what you mean. i would never get rid of my animals because i a place said no pets. well i would keep on looking. PEOPLE ARE SO DUMB THEY THINK ANIMALS DO NOT HAVE FEELINGS AND THAT THEY CAN THROW THEM AWAY LIKE YESTERDAYS NEWPAPER. WELL GUESS WHAT YOU CANT. I WISH WE COULD TAKE A HUMAN THAT WAS THROWING THEIR PET AWAY REVERSE IT AND THROW THEM AWAY AND SEE HOW IT FEELS FOR THEM!!!!! |
