I've had trouble logging out on my laptop (Vista)...it stays logged in no matter what. Do you have another web browser? That's what I tend to do...I use Internet Explorer, and someone else uses Modzilla Firefox...(I stay logged into my accounts on one and they can stay logged into theirs on the other browser..don't know, works for us) Or you try clearing the browsing history...you may have to do that every time you switch accounts, though.

Did you erase all the history...saved passwords too?

I just chalk it up to the aliens everyone talks about.  Either that, or it's like the Bates Motel...you can check in but you can't leave.   I guess you're just stuck with us.  But I know it's gotta be frustrating for the person who wants to sign up here.

lol thats sad when 2 microsoft products cant even work correctly together. GOGO MS! Sorry you are having problems I would also suggest downloading firefox not only is it free but its a much more secure browser than IE. You can continue to use IE if you want and your friend can use firefox.
