I am not certain if anyone else has to deal with this, and if perhaps this is something specific to rat terriers, but my Princess has this little habit of pretending to be a fox and grabbing things, like shoes and um...well most recently a bra... and hiding them under beds.  Now she loves to burrow under beds, like it's a tunnel, and constantly brings stuff under there with her.  Is she trying to prevent me from being able to go to work?? She doesn't chew on any of it.  She even took my mom's anti-embolism stocking she has to wear after her knee replacement and hid it under the bed!  No holes, nothing, just hiding it.  Most common, though, are one of a pair of shoes.  Never both, just one.  Is there something with rat terriers that this relates to? She's very gentle with everything she takes, never chewing on it.  I'm not terribly mad about it.  In fact it's kinda cute .  She's adorable.  But it does get a little exhausting to continually reach under the bed to get my things . Well, I hope someone can shed some light on it because I'm at a loss!  Thanks a million

Princess' mommy,

Stephanie

She is so cute that even if she did destroy the things she took how could you be mad?

haha! no...I've tried to be mad before at her.  She gives me this pitiful innocent look and I just melt and can't be mad anymore.

My two do this when I'm getting ready in the morning, but only if I drop something on the floor. If a sock hits the floor I always have to be quick to pick it up or they will grab it and take it under the bed. They won't chew on whatever they take either. I've always thought of it as a game they like to play, because the minute I go under the bed looking for them they go further and further away from me. They are both silly. When they were puppies they would disappear under the sofa, table or bed with my husband's wallet or his dress shoes. They would chew on them then, but now they have no desire to. Now my Italian Greyhound is another story. I'm currently working with him to get him over this, but if you don't give him your undivided attention when he wants it he knows exactly what to go for and he will chew on it. For example: All of my purses have his teeth imprints on them. I guess he's trying to start a new trend.

Just git yourself one of those long handled "grabbers".(for people who have disabilities to pick things up off the floor with) Then you can just pull the stuff out when she takes it under there. It'll be like a game! She will love to play it with you!

Sydney loves to take everything under the bed as well but if given the chance it will be destroyed as well.  Sonic might to the same except for one small problem-- he is to big to get under the bed!

That is cute esp since she doesn't destroy your stuff.  Dink doesn't do that but if he has something he doesn't want us to take from him like one of my son's baseballs he put it in his bed.

My two don't hide things, they are more like we are going to jump on your head when the alarm goes off so you get up and FEED US!! LOL, I think they like when we leave, then they go back to bed in peace.

She is so dang cute, you can't stay mad at a face that adorable and she knows it!!

The great pleasure of a dog is that you may make a fool of yourself with him and not only will he not scold you, but he will make a fool of himself too

LOL You know, you're all right. I can't be mad at her and I'm not! She gets this meek pouty face if I even raise my voice. I never know she's stolen anything until I go to put on my shoes or my mom can't find something of hers. She's just a goober sometimes Sweetheart though. And so smart!
