All

As you know we just got Zack from the pound on friday and Kim took Zack to the vet today and that did not go well. Zack was very aggresive to towards the vet and end up having to be muzzled. He has never showed it here. Now Kim is worried they may come out at home. Zack is quickly finding his place here and is very loving loves to cuddle and give kisses. He has only shown that behavior once here and that was over food and I think I have put a stop to that at least it hasn't happened since. Zack and Harlee eat out of each others bowls and share a water bowl. The vet suggested that we need to socialize Zack some more, just not sure how we don't entertain a lot and I will end up trying to geyt him into some puppy playtime I hope that helps. Any suggestions?

take him everywhere!!!  the more  the better anywhere that allows dogs the more things he gets introduced to the better.  Ivy goes everywhere with me I am a groomer so she gets to go to work but everyone is not so lucky.  She goes to the ball park for my sons baseball games to school to pick up kids.   The more people places and things the better. Good luck!!!! Lisa and Ivy

Getting him out and about won't hurt, but it may just be the vets too. You never know what he has been through before and some dogs do not tolerate the vets very well. Geez, they are poked and prodded and pricked.....I would hate them too. I would keep an eye out for any other forms of aggression so that if they do come out you can nip it in the bud.

What Sarah said....

Plus this: We had a vet my dogs hated on site. Hated and let it be known. We changed vets. They LOVE the vet we have now, despite her needles. If he shows no other aggression (and yes, do test and work on that and keep him socialized), try finding another vet, possibly a female (hate to say it but often that makes a difference).

If you have a dog park take them there, or even a regular park. My little baby Pixel loves to socialize. The vet told me to do it actually even though other than being a little too playful during our visit she was well behaved. She said even being hissed and swatted by our cats is good, it teachers her respect (we just have to be careful no claws are used). As long as we know the dogs are up to date on shots and have no history of parvo she is allowed to play with them as well and she loves people to death. Second week of july she will hopefully finish her shots then we can go to the parks. We have went for walks for the last two days and she always wants to go visit with everyone outside lol.

Also for her first week with us I was bringing her to work so she got to meet lots of people

You've gotten some great suggestions from some forum members, so I don't really have anything to add... except that I would not allow the dogs to share a food bowl. I would give each dog his/her own bowl... and feed them at opposite sides of the room.
