Tomorrow's the day I pick up Lola!

I'm making a trip to Petsmart first to buy everything I need for her. "Need," by the way, is defined very loosely. I probably need to define it a little less loosely to get out of Petsmart with my budget intact. But Lola is getting a collar, tags, a leash, a crate, a bed, food and water bowls, and some toys, and I'm going to inquire about obedience classes while I'm there. Am I missing anything? That reminds me, what size crate should I get for a 20-pound dog? If I get her the plastic kind, I'll be able to tell by looking, but if I buy her the metal kind that comes in a box, I will be confused.

I'm also wondering what kinds of toys your ratties like best, so I have an idea of what kinds of toys to get Lola.  I've heard a kong is a necessity!

I'm so excited!

Some ratties love to destroy fluffy toys, others not as much. You'll have to wait and see. Some are big chewers, others not so much. Mine all like fluffy toys and bully sticks and stuffed kongs very much.

Miss Noodles likes anything that is in my hand. I believe babies need stuffies, but watch what you buy. Nothing with beans, beads, or sand, no plastic eyes or anything. That way she'll have nothing bad to swallow when she "kills" it. Little tennis balls are fun. Personally I perfer the plastic crates. You will need a cover of some sort for her crate, this allows her privacy. If you choose a metal cage look at the size of the platic one you would buy for her size and then get that size metel one. Oh and in this case big is not better. Get one just big enough for her to move around comfortably when shes full grown. Good Luck and I'm looking forward to watching her grow and watching you fall completly IN LOVE.

There is no joy greater than being owned by a Rattie!!

Today's the day! Today's the day!  I'm going to go pick up Lola today!

I'll try to post new pics later. I only have a webcam and not a very good one, so they may not be the best quality.

Can't wait!!!

Mine do not like the kongs. They prefer nyla bones, and stuffed toys. The ones shaped like bones, or rattles, seem to last longer. They don't tend to destuff those. They love squeekey toys. Winchester has has a yellow rubber spiked ball for several months now without destroying it, because he just likes to make it squeek, and does not chew it up. They also like tennis balls. Be careful not to buy anything made in China, because it could contain lead, in the dye, or paint. Good luck, congRATS, and can't wait to see pics.
