Hello to every one.  Just wanted to say hello.  I have read many postings within the past month, and have gotten some great advice to try on my new puppy.  Rocky is 4 months old - had him since he was 8 weeks.  He seems to be in love with our entire family (4 kids, 2 parents) and we are in love with him.  I've read and tried some of the tips on potty training Rocky, but we still find piles of poop least once a day.   Hopefully Rocky and I will come to an understanding soon.     I haven't had a dog since I went away to college and my doggy Cindy passed away from old age and being heartbroken that I was gone.   So even after 4 human baby raisings - this training issue can be quite cumbersome.

After spending time at this site I know that my husband and I have made a great choice in a family dog.  Thanks everyone.

You do have a family full don't you. You will never regret this breed. They are so loyal and intelligent. They will test you and challenge you for sure, that's part of the intelligence. In return, you will get the most energetic, cuddly, toy chewing, towel killing (after a bath) make you laugh out loud little guy you could ever imagine. You'll be amazed at how many antics we all find in common with our ratties. If you have a chance, look at some of the photo members (video's), and photo ratties, they'll make you laugh.
Training topics are listed and we have so many members that can help you along the way. One member that is indispensable to this site for training.
Welcome again. We joke, you can check in to the site but you can never leave. (Like Hotel California)

Welcome!  Rocky is adorable.  Can't wait to see more pictures.  I had a poodle growing up but my Mom always took care of her so I really didn't know what a responsibility it is in raising a dog, I just knew I didn't want to bother (with my family), I always told my son (whose an only child)  'when dogs stop pooping, I'll get you one' but I broke down (only b/c the hubby & son forced me) and we looked for a dog and found Dink and I can honestly say that he is the best thing that has ever happened to us.  He is part of the family and has brought us so much joy.  I swear Rat Terriers are the best breed there is!!!  It's ALOT of work raising a dog but it's so rewarding.  ALL my friends pick on me constantly b/c of how much I've spoiled Dink and keep sending them pics of him.  I think I'd drive them more crazy if I didn't have RT.com!!!!!
