How do I go about finding the best rat terrier as a pet for my family? I've met very hyper ratties and very mellow ones. We're interested in the latter.

We have an 18-month old, two cats and a rabbit so are looking for a special temprement that will be just right for us. We're in St. Louis, MO and would prefer an adult who is a rescue.

Welcome. Just curious if a rabbit and a rattie would work out. Is your rabbit pretty big? I'm just wondering if a hopping furry critter like a rabbit wouldn't this bring out the rattie's hunting/killing instinct?

Definitely follow the advice given here. The people at ratbones are amazing and I'm sure they wouldn't mind talking with you to see if any of their pups would be a good match for your family. Good luck, let us know what happens.

Welcome! It's wonderful that you want to rescue an adult rattie. I agree with everyone's advice to contact Ratbones. They try very hard to match the right rattie with the right family.

Is the rabbit kept in a cage or confined area? I know any of my dogs would attack a rabbit....and not just the ratties!
