Hello, We have two wonderful Rat terrier females.  We rescued one in October from a flea market here in town. She was emaciated, filthy and her collar was growing into her neck.  She was 7 months old and didnt even have a name.  I couldnt leave her there so I paid the guy (yes he made me buy her!!! ) and took her home thinking I would get her healthy and rehome her.  Well lets just say she hooked us.  She learned extremely fast.  At first, she was very scared of the wood floor but it didnt take her long before she found out how much fun a house can be.  She is a very sweet dog.  We got so hooked by her that we got another one.  We actually bought a full sister to her from another litter.   Yes she actually came with papers from the guy who starved her (but he wasnt her breeder).

We have 2 acres fenced and have 3 other dogs ( a boxer, a pug & a bassett hound), so needless to say the ratties have no problems getting exercise.  What snuggle bunnies they are.  And super smart. I love how much they want to please.

I hope to learn a lot from this site.

Brenda

The older girl's name is Sissy. LOL - we had to call her something and that came to mind. Remember - we were not planning on keeping her. The younger one is named Peaches (and I SWEAR my husband named her). As a matter of fact, he actually bought them matching hoodies. But Sissy acted like you were killing her so we took it off and now Pugsly (the pug) wears it when they go bye bye and it is cold. Pugsly and Peaches are best friends.

I will try to get pics but truthfully I dont get good pictures of them. As I am sure you know - they are NEVER still and I have an old camara that takes years to actually take the picture. So I have a ton of them in half turns or tail ends etc. I need a new camara.

Oh, I do have one question. Mine are both black & white. No tan. I dont see many like that. Is that an acceptable color? They have UKC papers.

Hi, and welcome to you and your ratties, and other puppies too You found THE BEST site on the web for a rattie lover Bless you for getting Sissy out of the bad situation she was in and spoiling her AND getting her sister! Can't wait to see some pics, even if they're "half turns"!

And yes, black and white only is an acceptable color combo. You will see here (look through the photos of ratties thread) that there are MANY colors allowed in the rat terrier breed. Tri-colors are often the most pictured and most common but bi-colors and other patterns are perfectly acceptable too Variety is one of the best things about rat terriers!

Welcome! I have full sisters too (littermates, actually). Ratties come in so many colors, but I think most are black tris, at least here anyways. Mine couldn't look any more different from each other...Molly is a black tri and Lucy is lemon/white. Ratties don't really like to stay still for pics, that's why most of my pics are of them asleep.
We'd love to see pics of Sissy and Peaches (and your other dogs) when you get a chance.

How do you add a picture to an existing thread?  I thought I could figure it out and went to FAQ's but cant seem to follow the instructions right. Thanks.

Do you want to add an avatar that shows up each time you post?
Or are you looking to post pics of your rattie in a thread someone else has started?

If you want to add photos (and we want to see them!) Go to the Photos:Ratties forum and click on Add New Topic. Just type in a subject line and something in the body of the message. Underneath that is three file upload boxes. Just make sure the pic files are less than 125kb in size and end in lowercase jpg format
