Hello,

I thought I would take a few minutes and introduce myself. My name is Gerald and I live in central Alabama with my wife Leslie and our rat terrier Bingeaux. We've had him for a few years now, but I just found this site and thought it looked cool. We inherited Bingeaux from some friends of ours who couldn't find time for him. My wife took him in, much to my displeasure (at the time), but now I can't imagine not having him around.  Now I'm trying to talk my wife into getting another dog, but I haven't had much luck.

BTW, I didn't name him. Our friends 5 year old son had named him Bingo and by the time we got him, he wouldn't answer to anything else. So, I figured if I couldn't change his name, I could change the spelling and since I am from South Louisiana and I am a huge LSU fan, I changed the spelling to Bingeaux.

I'll try to get some pictures up whenever I have time.

Gerald

The big dog is named Zerra. She is our friends weimeraner (sp?). We were dogsitting for them for the weekend and my wife snapped some pictures of them after they had crashed on the couch. Zerra was still a puppy at the time and she could almost keep up with Bingeaux.

Welcome to the site!  Bingeaux is cute!  His name reminds me of a French major I knew at Texas that named his dog Phideaux (but he pronounced it like an American would, Fido, LOL).   I live in Texas.  We're retired teachers and have two mini females, Button (left in avatar) and Zipper, our rescue.  I lived in Montgomery when I was 12 when Dad was stationed at Maxwell AFB.  You'll love this place, but it can be a tad addictive.    Great people, great advice, great support and lots of pics/videos, too!  Look forward to getting yo know you and your family there.

Thanks everybody for the warm welcome. I've been spending some time looking around and I've noticed that there aren't that many guys on the board. It doesn't look like ya'll are holding that against me, though. HAHA

We have some guys that post regularly, but I agree, we could use a little more male input to the discussions.

I shall try my best. I'm afraid I won't be able to post things like "cutie, precious, sweetie, etc." A man's gotta have his limits, you know. I've got a reputation to uphold. HAHA. I'll leave that to you ladies.

Your reputation will be safe...until your wife joins and tells us the truth

We've seen so many men here (or married to people here) who normally wouldn't think a "real" dog ever weighed less than at minimal 60lbs But these same men fall completely head-over-heals in love with these ratties

Welcome Gerald. I am a huge LSU fan because my son played there the last year Sabin coached and he recruited my son... When Les Miles came my son played 2 years then he transferred to Appalacian State where he is much happier... But I am a die hard Tiger fan. You will love it here..This is family and you will soon become addicted like we all are. Again Welcome and GEAUX Tigers!!!! Love Bingeaux's name...

Welcome to you and Bingeaux. I inherited Ernie the same way, from people that couldn't give him the attention he needed. Like you, we wouldn't know what to do without him.
I know it's a "guy thing" to not post the mookey pookey stuff but just wait, you'll become addicted and some time or another, you may slip...LOL!!!

GEAUX Tigers!!!! I was at LSU for Dinardo's last year and when Saban first got there. It's definitely been good being a LSU fan lately. I'm starting to get spoiled. If your son happens to be a defensive lineman from Texas, I think I know who he is. I wasn't going to post his name on-line. I can't blame anybody for leaving LSU for App. State. I've been to ASU and it is a beautiful place. It is kinda easy to get lost in the crowd at LSU because of the number of students they have. I myself transferred to Troy State once I got married and moved to Alabama and I enjoyed the smaller campus.

Hello Gerald and welcome to the site. My husband is from Alabama. He was born in Mobile, but lived in the Huntsville area. My mother-in-law still lives in Alabama. She lives in Hartselle. Your baby is adorable and I love his name!

When you own a Rattie....you KNOW you are in your right mind

THE MEANING OF RESCUE

Now that I'm home, bathed, settled and fed,
All nicely tucked in my warm new bed.
I'd like to open my baggage
Lest I forget,
There is so much to carry -
So much to regret.
Hmm... Yes there it is, right on the top
Let's unpack Loneliness, Heartache and Loss,
And there by my leash hides Fear and Shame.
As I look on these things I tried so hard to leave -
I still have to unpack my baggage called Pain.
I loved them, the others, the ones who left me,
But I wasn't good enough - for they didn't want me.
Will you add to my baggage?
Will you help me unpack?
Or will you just look at my things -
And take me right back?
Do you have the time to help me unpack?
To put away my baggage,
To never repack?
I pray that you do - I'm so tired you see,
But I do come with baggage -
Will you still want me?
