I'm  a newby too, but I need help.  We adopted our rattie from what I believe was a bad home.  We've had him now for 3 years. He's pretty much gotten over that trauma. As he's not as nervous and spooked as he was.

He to  has the pee problem, but it's sporadic. My big problem is we adopted another dog recently and our rattie is displaying some odd behavior.  He continually follows the new dog around and wants to lick his penis.  What's going on with that? I've always wanted a home with several dogs, but this is a little to much for me. Please send me any information or comments you migh have.

Needing some help! Buddy's Mom

Hmm. Dunno, Jeter and Jack both do this at times too. Not all the time but still do. Sorry I am no help. Would you get rid of the dog because of this??

Dogs are very social creatures and often engage in "bonding" behaviors like grooming, which includes licking. They lick their humans and other animals. It actually means (in the canine world) that they are comfortable with each other. It's similar to how dogs smell each others butts. They also lick each other's mouths...

You can stop it if it bothers you (obviously it does). But bottomline is... it's how canines communicate with each other.
