| I have heard that it is a learned behavior...I didn't want Vino doing it, but if you want that, just have him around other dogs who do... |

| amlet actually started lifting his leg way later on. originally he always squated, and i thought he was a confused little boy, lol. i was happy he wasn't marking though. then, at about a year or so I saw him lift his leg and he barely squats anymore. with him there was no connection to when he was neutered, because he was neutered at six months. i think what made amlet start lifting his leg was that he became somewhat territorial. not sure if it happens to every male, so i would wait and see. |

| Shadow was neutered at 11 months old. He started lifting his leg a couple weeks before that. However, he doesn't lift his leg unless he is by a tree or bush. He squats all the time. I keep baby wipes to wipe his legs and feet when he comes inside most of the time. He doesn't like it, but I prefer it. |

Fuji started lifting his leg at around 6 months old. However, he does not lift his leg a lot so he pees his leg sometimes |

| No-De is 1.5 yrs old and still squats like a princess. I waited until he was 10 months to fix him because I wanted him to lift first but I got tired of him marking every spot in the yard that the female lab peed. So I took him to the vet. He lifts every now and again, but he never saw another male dog do it so he doesnt do it. (My neighbors dog on the other and was raised around males before he got her and she squats and lifts its the funniest thing! lol) |

Now I'm thinking that squatting might not be such a bad thing....at least i dont have to walk half way across the yard to the nearest tree...maybe eventually he'll get tied of peeing on his front leg and figure out he needs to lift it |

Smokey generally squats. He is 2. He does lift his leg if he sniffs across an area where Bandit lifted his leg. funny but Bandit does the same thing.............
Jeanne gets mad when I lift my leg because I am a bit unstable doing that and sometimes miss the bowl! |

My Vinnie still squats and he is going to be 4. He only lifts his leg when another dog is watching him pee. We joke about that. We always say "Vinnie pees like a girl" hahaha. When he does lift his leg, he's a little unsteady because he's not used to it. Kinda funny. We have 2 German Shepherds across the street and when they are tied out, Vinnie loves to pee on the tree in their yard by lifting his leg. They get so mad!!! We tell him "Stop Teasing the Germans Vinnie" hahaha |

Fred does both, sometimes he lifts and sometimes he squats. I know on windy days he definately squats, probably to unsteady on 3 legs. There is not really a particular time he will lift his leg, he does both 50/50. Now if Alice lifts her leg then I will be worried!! |

 Rattitude Problem

Bob squats 90% of the time. Sometimes he will lift his right leg slightly while squatting. He only lifts his leg to mark all the areas around my mom's backyard where her poodle has gone...or around her Christmas tree. Sometimes the little doofus will only put his two front legs off of the patio and squat with his front end lower than his back end. Then he ends up peeing on his chest. |

THE MEANING OF RESCUE
Now that I'm home, bathed, settled and fed, All nicely tucked in my warm new bed. I'd like to open my baggage Lest I forget, There is so much to carry - So much to regret. Hmm... Yes there it is, right on the top Let's unpack Loneliness, Heartache and Loss, And there by my leash hides Fear and Shame. As I look on these things I tried so hard to leave - I still have to unpack my baggage called Pain. I loved them, the others, the ones who left me, But I wasn't good enough - for they didn't want me. Will you add to my baggage? Will you help me unpack? Or will you just look at my things - And take me right back? Do you have the time to help me unpack? To put away my baggage, To never repack? I pray that you do - I'm so tired you see, But I do come with baggage - Will you still want me?
