Hubby suggested that I share the story of how Shiloh aquired her own pet kitty...
Two days after I adopted Shiloh, I was on my way to the local newspaper office where I worked, with a have a heart trap in the cab of my truck with two feral kittens hunkered down inside. We have 29 acres and feral cats are numerous in our area. The lady who runs the Animal Rescue here loaned me the trap and promised to domesticate the kittens and adopt them out. When I returned home from work that evening, I went to greet the kids and Shiloh. In the living room were said kids, all looking rather guilty and snuggled with Shiloh, was a tiny calico kitten?!? Numerous explanations followed... "It followed me home","It was in the road and I rescued it before it could get hit', "Shiloh needs a kitten", "We've already named it", and so on...
Child #2 gave it to Child #1 Child #1 promptly named her Cumbricia after a character in the book she was currently reading.
Dad came home and said the same thing I had, "No way!"
Child #1 Promptly gave the kitty to the doggie. That'll fix mom and dad.
It did.
But Kitties that are raised by Puppies have a tendency to be kind of icky. Cumbricia had a serious gas problem. She wasn't at all embarassed about it either. Hold me Dad! Pet me Dad! Love me Dad! Dad doesn't really like cats. Especially smelly ones, Icky. Cat loves Dad!
Icky Kitty. And so she was named by Dad. Can't get rid of her now...
It stuck and the gas problem finally subsided after we figured out that Kitty wasn't eating her kitty food. After all, she thought she was a puppy!
And that's how Shiloh came to have her own Icky Kitty.
They snuggle and Shiloh plays with her like she's a small puppy or one of her stuffed animals. Poor Icky Kitty.

What a great story, funny too! Isn't that always what happens though, animals seem to always bug the ones that seem the least interested in them, like they aren't given them a chance to not like them |

That sounds kinda like how my mom and her bf's Fox Terrier ended up with his own kitty.my mom's bf's son gave my mom a kitten and their FT ended up with it.poor kitty used to get dragged across the yard if it tried to leave the property and now everytime it has kittens, their FT Brutus thinks he's the dad to them and won't let them get out of sight.if they get too far away,he'll pick them up and carry them back

This made me laugh. All I could picture was Dottie grabbing her toy tiger by the nape of the neck and carrying it around the house.

I've heard of several dogs with their own pet kitty cats. I think Rhett in Mississippi has one. And now Katie Scarlett has a pet bunny! |

| Michelle, that's great you adopted a dog in need. Your rattie sounds about the same size as my Russ. Welcome to the site! |

cute story. I always joked that my dog needed a pet kitty, but we never got him one. I had a cat when we got him, but he scared the old girl off...he just loved her soo much. he'd sit and stare at her with a love-sick expression, and would try to kiss her, but he would get slapped by her every time he tried. I think she finally found a home with one of my dog-free neighbors. but I think he would have loved to have had a kitten. |
